# Nakṣatra Tārās Meaning Quality
One that pertains to the moment of birth. This is a very delicate Nakṣatra and indicate danger. Thus, the 1st Daśā is considered a very delicate
1 Janma 1, 10, 19 Inauspicious
Daśā, and can indicate Bālāriṣṭa, if the Janma Tārā is afflicted.
Sampada means wealth, assets and properties. It is mapped to the 2nd house of a Kuṇḍalī, that governs over wealth (dhana), family (Kutumba),
2 Sampada 2, 11, 20 Auspicious
food etc.
Vipada means danger. It is mapped to the 3rd house in a Kuṇḍalī, that represents the effort, perseverance and sweat that we must put in life. It is
3 Vipada 3, 12, 21 the 8th from the 8th house, which according to the Bhāvāt Bhāvam principle, have similar qualities like the 8 th house. 8th house represents danger, Inauspicious
hence, that is what is also expected from this Nakṣatra.
4 Kṣema 4, 13, 22 Kṣema means wellbeing. It is mapped to the 4th house in a Kuṇḍalī, that represents happiness (Sukha), comforts, luxuries etc. Auspicious
Pratyak means obstacles, hence this Nakṣatra is avoided for any auspicious activities, else, that may end up having many obstacles. This is
mapped to an auspicious Bhāva, the 5th, however, still the quality is negative, why? This is because, there are some qualities of the 5 th house, that
5 Pratyak 5, 14, 23 are very intense. The 5th house of the natural zodiac is governed by Sūrya, which is a very fierce Graha. In addition, 5 th house is the Bhāvāt Bhāvam Inauspicious
of the 3rd house, indicating things where one need to put intense effort, “to overcome obstacles”. 3 rd represents effort, and Thus, the 5th indicate
multiplication of effort. This aspect of 5th however is not visible in the Bhāva analysis, while it does in the Nakṣatra analysis.
Sādhaka means achievement. This is what one gets after overcoming obstacles and difficulties. Although 6 th house in a Kuṇḍalī is predominantly
6 Sādhaka 6, 15, 24 negative, there is one positive aspect ot it, which is, it represents the competitive abilities of a person, to overcome obstacles, difficulties, enmity, Auspicious
disabilities and the likes of it. Thus, this Nakṣatra is considered highly positive.
Vadha means death. Another name of this Nakṣatra is Naidhana, meaning the same. This is mapped to the 7 th Bhāva in a Kuṇḍalī, which is a
7 Vadha 7, 16, 25 Māraka Bhāva, indicate death or death life suffering. Death is the most difficult thing in life, compared all difficulties. Hence, among the Inauspicious
inauspicious Tārās, Vipada, Pratyak and Vadha, it is the Vadha that is the most dangerous.
Mitra means friends, close associates, well-wishers, kinsmen and everyone who supports the native in the ordeal of life. This is mapped to the 8th
house, representing danger. How is it that the Nakṣatra representing friends be mapped to an untoward Bhāva? The answer lies in how one looks
8 Mitra 8, 17, 26 Auspicious
at the Randhra Bhāva. It is the Bhāva that governs over our longevity (note, it’s not death), so favourable Grahas towards 8 th and the fortification
of the 8th Bhāva grant long life. Here good health is our friend. Another important aspect of the 8 th house which sometimes get unnoticed is that
Adhimitra means, very dear friend, i.e., one who can sacrifice own life to save the life of his friend. There are very few who can do that, or for that
9 Adhimitra 9, 18, 27 matter be called as an Adhimitra. This is mapped to the 9th house, and it is logical to expect that. Why? Because our good luck is our best friend. Auspicious
Again, the best friends are connected via a shared destiny (9 th house), hence, they consider that it is their duty and obligation to help the native.
Coming back to Jyotiṣa, the Sannāḍī group of Nakṣatras counted from Janma Candra and each of them are called a Nāḍī. These
Nāḍīs have a wide range of applicability. They can be used in both Janma and Gocara.
In the Janma Kuṇḍalī, if these Nāḍīs are occupied by Krūragrahas, who are also low in dignity, then in Daśā-Antardaśās of these
Krūragrahas, miseries and troubles can be expected. Likewise, the periods of the lord of the afflicted Nāḍī can also be
troublesome.
Applying the principles of the Sarvatobhadra Cakra, when Krūragrahas transit a Nāḍī or cause Vedha, great suffering in the area
governed by the Nāḍī is indicated. The 6 Nāḍīs are: (1) Janma Nāḍī 1, (2) Karma Nāḍī 10, (3) Saṅghātika Nāḍī 16, (4)
Sāmudāyika Nāḍī 18, (5) Vaināśika Nāḍī 23, and (6) Mānasa Nāḍī 25.
Therefore, to maintain the sanctity of the 27 Nakṣatra scheme and the allocation
of lordship, we can’t include Abhijit in the counting of the special Nakṣatras from
Nakṣatras We can infer that, the intercalary Nakṣatra, Abhijit although used in the
Sarvatobhadra Cakra, it should not be counted for ascertaining the special
Nakṣatras.
Likewise, when Birth occurs in Abhijit, it can’t can considered and should be
mapped to either Uttarāṣāṛhā or Śravaṇa, depending on the specific portion of
Abhijit. If we ignore this important point, it won’t be possible to reconcile
between the 27th and 28th Nakṣatra schemes.
◦ There is a strong association of number 10th with the karma which we are
supposed to do to fulfil the mission for which we have taken birth. In the
Rāśi chart, the 10th house is also the house of Karma and in the scheme of
Nakṣatra, the 10th Nakṣatra from Candra is also associated with Karma.
◦ The influences on this Nakṣatra will determine the access to various
resources which the native can use in fulfilling his work and how easily (or
otherwise) the native will attain the results of his work. This Nakṣatra
becomes very important in muhūrtas related to profession or business, which
involves realization of an objective.
◦ This means Danger. As the name suggests, this Nakṣatras has a strong
bearing on the risks the native faces in fulfilling an objective. An example of
risks could be accepting an unfavorable alliance or partnership with someone
due to financial constrains etc.
◦ This means environment. As the name suggests this Nāḍī indicate the
support the native is going to get from the environment etc. For example,
whether the environment is going to be supportive or hostile to the native or
a business enterprise (in mundane astrology) is seen from this Nakṣatra.
◦ Vināśa means destruction. As the name suggests this Nakṣatra has a strong
bearing on the ways and methods which can cause destruction or trouble to
the wellbeing of the native or the event under consideration. In the analysis
of business enterprise, this has a strong say on the associates, friends and the
partners.
◦ Mānasa means the state of the mind. Thus, as the name suggests the
Nakṣatra has a strong bearing on the state of mind of the native at any point
of time, based on the planetary transits. In mundane astrology, it can
represent the state of the mind of people involved such as how peaceful or
how agitated they are.
Other Special suggests the Nakṣatra has a strong bearing on the state of
mind of the native at any point of time, based on the
◦ Jāti means community. This Nakṣatra not only indicate the relationship of
the native with his family members, relatives and friends, but also how well
the native will be supported by his fellow community members. In a business
enterprise, this indicate the relationship between the employer and employees
and among the employees; such as how harmonious they are and how well
they support the business bottom-line.
