Project: The Amazon River

The Amazon River is located in the northern portion of

South America, flowing from west to east. The river system
originates in the Andes Mountains of Peru and travels
through Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Brazil
before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. The Amazon
discharges 209,000 cubic meters (7,831,000 cubic feet ) every
second. Its river system runs through 3 different countries
The Amazon River flows from Peru through Colombia and Brazil. The largest part of the river is
located in Brazil, and it was named by a Spanish explorer who named the Amazon forest after
being attacked by women who he compared to the Greek amazons. When the dry season
reaches its peak, the width of the river can shrink as low as 1.6 kilometers up to 10 kilometers.
And during the wet season, it expands immensely up to 48 kilometers in width. The Amazon is
one of Earth's last refuges for jaguars, harpy eagles, and pink river dolphins, and it is home to
sloths, black spider monkeys, and poison dart frogs. It contains one in 10 known species on
Earth, 40,000 plant species, 3,000 freshwater fish species, and more than 370 types of reptiles.

 The Amazon Rainforest is also home to 427 mammal species, 1,300 bird species, 378
species of reptiles, and more than 400 species of amphibians
 Anacondas are living here and they are the largest snakes in the world.
 The Amazon River is also home to the infamous piranha.
 It's also home to the Boto, which is also known as the pink river dolphin. A Slovenian
athlete once swam almost the entire length of the Amazon River, in 66 days guess who
was the man who swam?
