The Amazon River Basin
The Amazon River is located in the northern portion of South America, flowing
from west to east.
It is the greatest river of south America and the largest drainage system in the
world in terms of the volume of its flow and the area of its basin.
the river is generally believed to be at least 4,000 miles (6,400 km) long, which
makes it the second longest river in the world after the Nile River in Africa.

WHAT IS AMAZON TRIBES CALLED ?
Yanomami
The Yanomami, also spelled Yanomamo or Yanomama, are a group of approximately 35,000
indigenous people who live in some 200–250 villages in the Amazon rainforest on the border
between Venezuela and Brazil.
The climatic conditions of Amazon River
basin?
Amazon Basin lies in the Equatorial region. It experiences high temperature and high rainfall. Because
of adequate rainfall, evergreen forests are found in the region which receive rainfall throughout the
year. The Amazon forests are multilayered.
All trees do not shed their leaves at the same time as there is no particular season for shedding their
leaves.
Due to dense forests, rich wild life is found in the tropical rain forests.
Life in the Amazon river basin wildlife.
The Amazon is one of Earth's last refuges for jaguars, harpy eagles, and pink
river dolphins, and it is home to sloths, black spider monkeys, and poison dart
frogs. It contains one in 10 known species on Earth, 40,000 plant species,
3,000 freshwater fish species, and more than 370 types of reptiles.
The Eastern Highlands
Rainforests in the Amazon River basin are home to millions of species of plants and animals. They are
also home to indigenous tribes that have lived here for many thousands of years.
There are a number of distinct ethnic groups in Amazon River basin, as each have their own distinctive
language and culture. Many of such groups have now disappeared, for example, the Caribs, from Lesser
Antilles in the Caribbean. However, the remaining ones live scattered in the Amazon rainforests.
I believe that the Amazon River will continue to be the river it is today. Being a support to the things that
depend on it most. Such as plants and animals even the Atlantic Ocean.
