Look I like the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but I feel it was hampered from reaching it’s

full
potential for a multitude of understandable reasons. Covid hit mid production so they may not
have been able to film as much as they may have wanted. Most of what was filmed was previs
so not the talky bits were cut down. The setup for the following projects were a little intrusive
and the show's message was muddied by executives that were probably afraid of backlash. So
the point of my rewrite is to make the message clearer. Since I don’t have to worry about
budgets and have the benefit of hind sight, take what I say with a pinch of salt.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 1 "New World Order"
Most of this first episode is fine so there are not many changes. But the changes I do
make are important. First is the location of the first action scene, we do not start out in Tunisia.
There has been some justified criticism about how this show starts with a glorification of
American interventionism and I want to change that. Instead of Tunisia, we start in
Arizona. This serves two functions. One it makes a statement on america's status in the
post blip world, even we are having difficulty keeping order. Two it serves other
changes. My next change is that Torres is not army intelligence. In the Comics Torres is
not a soldier, I would not bring this up if it was not important, he is an immigration
advocate. They probably changed it because soldiers are shorthand for capable heroes
in America, but it adds to the glorification of American imperialism that I am trying to
rectify. Instead Sam meets Torres in Phoenix for lunch because they know each other
from their activism and he is part of that flag smasher event because he attends all the
big protests. The flag smasher event is also now in Las Vegas, so that instead of a bank
heist it is a casino because that is fun and I want most of the initial flag smasher stuff to
occur in the south west, more on that later. Other than that this is the same episode.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 2 "The Star-Spangled Man"
Same as the last episode, not many changes. But the changes are also important in the
details, first instead of a historically black college the rally is in a texan football arena. Second
John mentions that though him and Battlestar were both decorated, He deserves the honor of
being captain america more. Third is the crowd, instead of a strategically diverse crowd, it is
clearly a White one. How it is important is while we see the crowd from john's perspective first,
a Cheering crowd that adores him. Then we turn and see the crowd from his girlfriend and
partners perspective. There are rightwing slogans on some of the signs and even some racial
slurs that they hurl at Battlestar. John may not be a Right winger like he is in the comics, but his
followers are and he is so dazzled by the spotlight he can't see it and how it affects the people
he loves. Second, no bucky being embarrassed by the battlestar name, that joke does not work
anymore. Third the scene with the cop does not end with the cop backing off when he learns
who sam is, instead he does not care and does not back off until bucky threatens him. There is
no profiling flip where we use the bucky arrest as a bait and switch, instead they would have
beaten sam if bucky was not there and the bucky arrest was used by the cops as an excuse to
arrest sam.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 3 "Power Broker" Renamed Red, White, and Black
This is the big one. I like Zemo in this episode, but he and the power broker suck up the
oxygen that could be used for more important storylines. Who the Power Broker is does not
matter. It does not matter in the comics and should not matter here. It is just an excuse to
simplify origin stories, “where did they get their power from, They bought them from the power
broker”. So we never learn who the power broker is in this rewrite, we even end the episode
with them asking who the power broker is and Zemo with answer with, “Former CIA, SHIELD
Sleepers, Alien Cyborg, Does it matter now? The serum is out now, no putting that genie back in
the bottle.” Zemo never leaves the prison now, he is only in this episode. We learn about his
baronhood and the other stuff that we learn in asides and in the final episode when we see him
again. The rest of the episode is Zemo telling the story of the Black Captain America, a
condensed version of the “Truth: Red, White, and Black”. Also we do not blow up that GRC
facility, it comes from nowhere and serves to make them the unambiguous bad guys which hurts
my finale.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 4 "The Whole World is Watching"
Because Zemo is not out, the Doras are their because Bucky asked them to be there
and instead of a threeway fight between the Doras, John, and Sam. The Dora beat John on
their own. Mama Donya is Hispanic, Since I moved the primary location of the plot to America I
want the refugee communities to be ones that would be in america. Lemar is kicked but not
dead through, he is instead put in a coma so we could use him again and makes the fridging
less egregious.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 5 "Truth"

Ok, The Trial is very different. Before the trial Contessa tells John that this Trial is a
show, It is not actually a threat to his position. He will go away for a little bit, make a few
Apologies and he will return to his Duties. This will be a commentary on how Cops get away
with their crimes. And There will be a conversation in the shadows where we learn the council
hired Batrog to ignite a riot at an upcoming protest so they could send John to “Apprehend the
Looters” to speed up his rehabilitation in the eyes of the Public.
