My name is Emma Bourgain and I am a senior at Colorado State University in
the Early Childhood Education program. Growing up in Littleton, Colorado I spent most of my youth playing volleyball, nannying, and spending time with friends and family. I have two fur babies at home including a miniature red poodle and a labradoodle that I absolutely love to pieces! This semester as one of my practicum placements, I will be assisting and supporting Mrs. Wood in her classroom on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 – 11:30, helping with small groups and ensuring your children feel welcomed and loved. From the time I can remember I always wanted to be a teacher. This passion for Early Childhood Education is something that runs in my family as my parents own a Primrose School. Because of this, I was fortunate enough to start my teaching career in their school at the young age of 8 working summers as a teacher’s aid in a young toddler classroom. I obviously could not be on the payroll since I was only 8 so all I asked for was a slice of pizza at lunch for my payment! Prior to that experience, I would play pretend teacher pretty much any chance I had which included teaching lessons and reading books to my imaginary class (really just all my stuffed animals). From my experiences at Primrose, being a nanny for 6 years and participating in various other practicum placements I have truly fallen in love with not only teaching but this age group. My hope is to make a connection with each student, so they feel comfortable, supported and at home every time they enter my classroom. I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity to work with Mrs. Wood and look forward to learning and growing right alongside your children this school year. I have attached my email below so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Looking forward to an amazing semester!
