The Goal of the class is to improve English and Science skills. All readings, lectures
and instructions will be conducted in English. Students are expected to speak only
English in class with fellow students and Cambridge teachers. Students will keep all
their work and construct a portfolio throughout the year.

Assessment:
Students will be assessed through daily class work, lab work, projects, presentations,
quizzes, and tests. Rubrics will be given as projects are assigned and will be explain
how points are awarded. Every unit will have a checklist listing all work needed to be
completed.
Daily Assessment: There will be exit tickets given at the end of classes to review
knowledge acquire. Exit Tickets will take the form of short to medium length
questions. Answers must be recorded in you class portfolio or submitted daily.
Bi-weekly Portfolio: Students will submit their class portfolios every two weeks on
MS teams.
Progress Test: Students will have 2 progress test half-way through each semester.
Progress test will be a combination of multiple choice and short answer.
Topic Quizzes: Students will complete summative quizzes after each topic.
Assessed Labs: There will be four assessed labs. Two each semester. They will be a
combination of paper 5 and paper 6.
End of Term Exams: Students will have 2 End of Term exams are at the end of the
semester. For 10th grade the end of year exam will be the IGCSE course exam. End of
Year exams will be a combination of multiple choice and short answer.
Expectations:
Students are expected to follow all VAS rules stated in the Student Handbook. All
students will be prepared for each class.
Reading the chapter before the class and checking that technology is working.
Students will be responsible to catch up all assignments when they miss a class.
Portfolio: Students will create an electronic portfolio using Word. Students will
use proper English with correct grammar and spelling. The portfolio will be the
students review material and main place for collecting information for the course.
Students will submit bi-weekly. Students’ portfolios will have following elements:

Table of Contents
Page number
Lecture notes
Communication with teacher: Students and parents are welcome to contact me using
my email address below, or parents can call the IPC at the school.

be answered the next day or during class. If it is an emergency write emergency in the
subject line or contact the homeroom teacher. Open hours for students needing extra
help will be Monday afternoons during afternoon break or Monday after school hours
by appointment. I look forward to an exciting year.
