Race and Gender Inequality

Problem Statement

In today 's world discrimination is a racial inequality when it comes to different races all

over the world. Discrimination has been around for years and has created a social difference,

distinction in financial gain and have down people into a group known as the “racial minorities”.

These racial minorities are composed of women and other genders, elderly people, immigrants,

and people with disabilities. As mention in the article by Robert Espinoza, “a national research

and consulting organization focused on direct care, the direct care workforce struggles with

significant racial and gender disparities.”, this is still a problem in today’s society even though

people are still trying to help against it the discrimination aspect is still present. My main focus is

on studies of race and gender differences, the consequences of race and gender differences in

authority for income.

Methodology

In today’s society, how does race or gender play a role in a person’s income in the work

field? I will answer this question by gathering information by doing surveys from people from

different ethnic backgrounds, different social classes and also different genders. This is a big

problem because many people that are part of the racial minorities are being discriminated

because of the color of their skin or because of gender. The idea that being a different race or a

different gender does not make a person less than someone else if everyone is created equal. Due

to these reasons, they get treated less than others and their income is lower as well. But being

different is want to make us individuals unique and bring something new to the table, from a

different point of view and perspective. Also, this issue affects their lifestyle, some people

struggle with their day to day life due to low income.

Literature Review

From the information, I have gathered from my resources, is that racial and gender

inequality have been going down over the years but it is an issue still. From the article by Robert

Espinoza, “Racial and Gender Inequality is Harming Long-Term Care—But We Can Fix This”,

says that “The direct care job needs a large-scale transformation—higher wages, regular

schedules, improved benefits, enhanced training, and strong career paths—and the public and

private sectors must dedicate the funding to make it happen.” because these problems are causing

problems on the people being attended and also on the people that are attending the patients. In

the article by the Institute for Women's Policy Research, “Racial & Ethnic Inequality”, is more

focused on the fair treatment of woman of color on the work field. The article by The New York

Time, “'When I See Racial Disparities, I See Racism.' Discussing Race, Gender and Mobility”,

is a focus on how people react in front of racism and gender discrimination from both points of

view. From all these sources that I have gathered, I will be able to elaborate a well-developed

report.
