Experiential Learning amidst Pandemic: A Webinar
It is critical to constantly cultivate students' knowledge, especially in these pandemic
times. Students' learnings should be fostered in any way that is possible. The Webinar informed
the participants in wide areas of topics that are timely and useful. Four resource speakers shared
their knowledge in the topic, “Social Etiquette in a connected World Child Protection policy”,
“Cybersecurity in Social Media”, “Accessing Content Resources and Tools in Curating Learning
Materials” and “The What, Why and How of Classroom Action Research”.

“Social Etiquette in a connected World Child Protection policy”

When it comes to social media, there are numerous advantages for children and
teenagers. This involves maintaining in touch with friends and family, allowing for new means
of learning, and allowing them to express themselves in new ways. It can also benefit
organizations in a variety of ways, including keeping in touch with children outside of face-to-
face meetings, activities, and events, providing specialist support to children, such as counselling
and therapy, promoting events live streaming activities and running online sessions, creating
online groups, forums, and communities. But there are risks when you’re using social media to
communicate with children. Streaming online, children may be exposed to unpleasant or
inappropriate content, especially if the platform you're using lacks robust privacy and security
settings or if you don't review posts. This content could be sexually explicit or damaging in other
ways, such as bullying or disturbing content. Any significant improvement in the internet safety
and protection of children must come from the highest levels of government. As a result, we
believe that parents have a critical role to play in leading efforts to make the internet a safer place
for children.
Cyber security
Speaker: Bless Herrera-Agapito

Everyone’s data and privacy on the internet are important and should be secured. Leaked data
can be used against the owner that will result in blackmailing, scamming or other malicious acts.
That is why awareness of how to navigate the internet should be necessary.
The Internet plays a vital role in our lives today especially during this time of the pandemic.
Since the invention of the internet, people around the world have relied heavily on it and has
become a very convenient source of information, communication, and technology. According to
a study, out of 7.9 billion, people 4.5 Billion are now online, it means that 6 out of 10 individual
have an access to the world wide web. It also means that data are in its continuous growth and it
is projected that by the year 2025 there will be approximately 175 zeta bytes that hold by the
internet.
There are more than 3.8 billion smartphone users in the world with 89 million social media users
in the Philippines in January 2021. Users’ data like pictures, videos, and private information are
vulnerable to cyber-attacks. A Cyber-attack is an assault launched by a cybercriminal using one
or more computers against a single or multiple computers to disable computers, steal data or used
a breached computer as a launch point for other attacks. The most attack is hacking. Hacking
refers to the misuse of devices like computers, smartphones, tablets, and networks to cause
damage to or corrupt systems, gather information on users, steal data and documents, or disrupt
data-related activity. Internet users need to know what these types of hacking are and how they are
going to avoid being hacked. For data protection, many companies develop software that protects
the data. A software like anti-virus can be a huge help in blocking incoming attacks coming from
cyberattacks like hacking, spyware, ransomware, Trojan and other types of malicious cyber-
attacks. The Philippine government are also fighting this kind of cybercrime. There are plenty of
laws that punished cybercriminals like the RA 10175-Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. This
law punished the offences against the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer data
and systems; Computer-related offences and Content-related offences. This law is made against
cybercrimes like cybersex, child pornography and libel. Under the law of the Philippines, all
types of hacking are also punishable. These laws are:
1. Republic Act No. 11449, which expanded the Access Devices Regulations Act of
1998
2. Republic Act No. 8792, or the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000
3. Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012
4. Republic Act No. 10173, or the Data Privacy Act of 2012
After all, we have to protect our data and privacy. It is our responsibility to be cautious and
observant on surfing the web. Our fate lies in our hands and as the saying goes, think before you
click.
“Accessing Content Resources and Tools in Curating Learning Materials”

The main topic is Experiential learning courses. They tackle different types of digital
learning that students can use in this E-learning education such as Facebook, messenger, google
classroom, Brainly, etc. Technology has had a tremendous impact on education. The vast number
of resources that occupy the virtual world's corners is just what gives us control in these times of
pandemics. Through educational apps, people can view relevant data from wherever using any
educational apps. These apps have brought about some much-needed changes in the educational
sector. Also, technology can help instructors instruct the students in addition to facilitating them
in grading and planning. Apps can serve as built-in courses and let teachers track students'
development. Furthermore, the proper app may supplement a teacher's lecture by providing a
different perspective on a topic. We all know that the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing many
schools and institutions to quickly and extensively adopt online learning, remote work, and other
activities to help prevent the spread of the virus.

“Accessing Content Resources and Tools in Curating Learning Materials”

Everything about education and learning has changed now. Monitors and cellphone
displays are becoming the blackboards where we take the lead and gaze and learn. The
classrooms that we used to have are virtual. Lessons are discovered utilizing the smartboard, and
thankfully, pupils may have their teacher fixed on the camera at the corner of their displays. Our
computer monitors show our kids' little boxes. The learning environment today is different
because of the global pandemic.
Since the beginning of the CoVid-19 pandemic, physical and conventional classes have
been outlawed due to the high hazard of the disease. Teaching online courses will be necessary
for the long-term viability of education.
The virtual classrooms today are far from the actual classroom. Although many are
similar to a brick-and-mortar classroom, many are also significantly different.
Another advantage of a virtual classroom is that it can be scaled. Physical classrooms
frequently have limited sitting areas and rooms to sit comfortably. These classes can handle
significantly more students than other varieties concurrently. It improves easy access to
knowledge.
A virtual environment in a classroom keeps contact with individuals such that these on-
demand video lessons are not available, and much is lacking. Teachers can talk with internet
students in a virtual classroom, which is the same as how they interact in the actual classroom.
Online classes are like brick-and-mortar lessons because teachers and students appear
online simultaneously to promote rapid interactions. Online training is quite comparable to
traditional ways of education because it contains pre-recorded lectures, visual aids, etc.
A virtual classroom uses numerous channels for communication, such as chat software,
online tools for meeting and messaging. To do so, students can also profit equally. A virtual
classroom is open to students and is available when and as they need it. The course should be
delivered as part of a seminar or group discussion, as the case may be.
Distance learning becomes the mainstream educational mode due to the rapid economic
development and changing needs of young people. Technology drives this shift and adds to the
complexity of the results that have taken place. Content delivery and sharing models are
developing. Virtual classrooms teach pupils across boundaries since they are not constrained to a
location for brick and dead.
David Warlick; an educator, author, illustrator, programmer, public speaker, and early
adopter of classroom technology, believes, "In every classroom, every student and every
teacher's hand we need technology because it is the stylus and paper of our time, and that is the
lens through which we experience a lot in our world."
This crisis has shown the need to disseminate knowledge across borders, businesses, and
all sectors of society through education. If we can use online learning, we have a duty to explore
its full potential.
