THE RIVER WILD

The movie was about Gail (Meryl streep) an expert at water rafting took her husband Tom

(David Strathairn) and son rourke (Joseph Mazello) on a trip down the river where she used to be

a guide to celebrate rourke's birthday. Along the way the family encountered Wade (Kevin

bacon) and Terry (John C. Reilly) rafting to meet their friends down the river. Later the family

found out that the two are armed robbers. The men physically forced Gail to take them down the

river because they are inexperienced rafters and Gail's husband and son's life is at stake.

For me the most important values depicted in the movie are bravery and survival skills. There

was a scene where in Wade (Kevin Bacon) fell down the raft due to currents and waves and then

tom (David Strathairn) took action to save him from drowning and knocking him out because

wade panicked and threatened to pull them both down under.

As a future seafarer bravery and survival skills is very important because being a seaman is a

hazardous kind of job and safety is always at risk due to the nature and environment of work. In

times of danger and accidents you have to be brave so you can be calm and think clearly in

assessing, planning, and executing your actions. if you are scared you can't think properly and

might endanger yourself and your crewmates just like the scene that i mentioned where in wade

almost drowned himself and tom because he was panicking. Learning and possessing survival

skills is a huge factor whether you can make it or not in times of unprecedented circumstances.
