Prehistoric art:

Humans create art. We do this for a variety of reasons and with whatever technology are at our
disposal. Prehistoric art refers to items created before the invention of writing. People had
become experts at constructing forms that were both utilitarian and attractive even before the
first recorded languages were formed. The earliest art dates from the Paleolithic era (the Old
Stone Age), but the most significant breakthroughs in human history occurred during the
Neolithic era. The way we live today—settled in cities, protected by laws, consuming food
grown on farms—all of this traces back to the Neolithic era, some 10,000 years ago

Non-Western Art

Non-Western art differs from Western European art in many ways, including culture, religion,
materials utilized in the creation of art, form, and purpose. The structure of temples, stupas,
mosques, homes, and so on in non-western art is vastly different from that of churches,
structures, and so on in Western European art. Non-Western art encompasses any art artifacts
originating in civilizations and communities other than the Western world. The West
encompasses European civilizations and artworks that employ European aesthetics. The West is
defined as the arts of colonial areas such as the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and
Canada. However, the arts of these nations' indigenous peoples are referred to as non-Western
art.
