ABOUT GIBS

Gitarattan International Business School was established in the year 2004 under the
aegis of Rohini Educational Society. The society is proudly running various other
successful Institutions in Delhi like Gitarattan Institute of Advanced studies &
Training, Gitarattan Jindal Public School & The Sovereign School. Gitarattan
International Business School (GIBS) is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha
University, Delhi and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education
(AICTE), Ministry of HRD and Government of India for technical programmes and
Bar Council of India for Law programmes. The Institute is conducting programme like
MBA, MBA (International Business), BBA (General), (Both First and Second shift),
BA LLB and BBA LLB. GIBS is NAAC ‘A’ accredited Institute and has also been
rated grade ‘A’ by academic audit cell of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University
consistently from last five years. GIBS has been rated as A+ by state fee regulatory
committee by Govt. of NCT of Delhi. And it has been awarded highest grading ‘A’ by
joint inspection committee of Govt. of Delhi & GGSIPU. GIBS has been rated no. 2
by Times B School survey for 2018, 2019 & 2021 now. Centre for legal studies has
been set up by Gitarattan International Business School in the year 2016 for
imparting legal education. CLS-GIBS has been emerging as one of the prominent
law schools of the country providing 5-year integrated programmes in BA LLB and
BBA LLB.

ABOUT COURTROOM:THE LAW SOCIETY OF CLS,GIBS

The Law Society provides students with a more accurate depiction of the legal
industry. Whether through Mentoring programs, Mooting, Negotiation exercises or
Interview Workshops, members get the chance to develop soft skills to boost their
employability.

Aim of Law Society

The COURT ROOM: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS is constituted for conducting
and regulating the Moot Court, Debate, Youth Parliament and other activities in GIBS

as per the Academic Calendar 2020-2021 of GIBS as well as to send representation


on behalf of CLS, GIBS in the External Event.

Objective of Law Society

To train the students for various national and international competitions like Moot
Courts, Debates, Youth Parliament etc. and also to represent the CLS, GIBS outside
the college in various events and regulate the moot court, Debate, Youth Parliament
and other activities hosted by CLS, GIBS.

To promote opportunities for students to participate in various national/ international


events and competitions and develop their skills in the field of Law which will further
help them to groom themselves.

ABOUT “JUSTITIA” : The Virtual Lex Fiesta of CLS, GIBS

Gitarattan International Business School is organizing its 1st Edition of Lex Fiesta
from 26th to 29th October, 2021. The event is planned to widen the horizons of
budding future legal professionals and to accommodate various events/
competitions. The aim of the event is to bring the academicians, practitioners and
students of Law together in order to learn and share their knowledge. Further we are
committed to actualize the potential of the participants. To enrich the experience of
this festival, we are organizing the following events/ competitions:

EVENTS

MEDIATION COMPETITION

Alternate Dispute Resolution is one of the most important aspects of justice delivery
in present day.

Mediation forms one of the most crucial aspects of it. The competition seeks to
simulate a bipartite mediation between teams based on some common facts and
different confidential information privy to each side. In a mediation procedure, a
neutral intermediary the mediator helps the parties to each a mutually satisfactory
settlement of the dispute. Any settlement is recorded in an enforceable contract.

Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Mediation Competition in
Collaboration with NORTH DELHI STATE LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY
(DSLSA).

North Delhi State Legal Services Authority

Delhi State Legal Services Authority erstwhile Delhi Legal Aid & Advice Board has
been constituted by an Act of Parliament passed under “The Legal Services
Authorities Act, 1987” as amended by Legal Services Authorities (Amendment) Act,
2002, to provide free and competent legal service to the weaker sections of the
society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen
by reason of economic or other disabilities, and to organize Lok Adalats to secure
that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on a basis of equal
opportunity. The Central Office of Delhi State Legal Services Authority functions
from the Pre-Fab Building, 1st Floor, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria

Students pursuing their full time 3-year or 5-year LLB program from a University or
Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to apply.

General Rules

Ø The Organizing Committee shall accept the registration of a maximum of 20


Teams on first come first serve basis.
Ø A Team shall comprise of only 3 participants viz, Client, Counsel and
Mediator.
Ø The Competition shall comprise of Qualifying Rounds and Advanced Rounds.
Ø The Qualifying Rounds shall consist of two Preliminary Rounds and the
Advanced Rounds shall consist of Semi-Final Round and the Final Round.
Ø Last date to seek clarifications is 23rd October 2021 and release of such
clarifications would be on 24th October 2021 via official email id of
mediation@gitarattan.edu.in in a document form.
Ø The Mediation Problem for the Preliminary rounds will be provided through
mail 3 days prior to the event.

DEBATE COMPETITION

A Debate is a discussion or structured contest about an issue or a resolution. A


formal debate involves two sides: “one supporting the resolution and one opposing
it”. Such a debate is bound by the rules mentioned in the brochure. Debates may be

judged in order to declare a winning side. A team consists of two members. When
the formal debate is finished, time will be given for rebuttal. A debate has been
proved to be a great device in engaging students and enables them to voice their
valuable views. The objective of this competition is to inculcate a healthy debate
culture amongst students and contrive them to defend what they stand for. The
Debate Competition aims to provide the students with an opportunity to come ahead
learn and experience the art of debating.

Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Debate Competition in
Collaboration with ANZ LAWZ.

ANZ LAWZ | LLP is a multidisciplinary law firm working in both personal and
corporate sectors which specializes in Litigation, Advisory and Corporate practices.
Our firm has the experience of working in varied sectors such as Infrastructure,
Health & Care, Telecommunication, Education, Real Estate, Retail, E-Commerce,

Trademark, Real Estate, Family Law, Criminal, Commercial Disputes, Sexual
Harassment module for Business as well as new company startup, formulation of

on first come first serve basis.
Ø There shall be two speakers from one team.
Ø Team shall decide Speaker 1 and Speaker 2. Speaker 1 will debate 'For the Motion'
and speaker 2 will debate on 'Against the Motion'.
Ø The language for the debate competition shall be English only.
Ø Last date to seek clarifications is 15th October 2021 and release of such
clarifications would be on 18th October 2021 via official email id of
debate@gitarattan.edu.in in a document form.

YOUTH PARLIAMENT

The Youth Parliament Programme was introduced to enable the students to acquaint
with the functioning of our Parliamentary institutions and stimulate them to reflect
critically on national issues. The Youth Parliament is a not for profit, non political,
support and learning community, committed to developing the uninhibited expression
of young people with the aim of sustaining a platform that enables young people to
be effective and expressive agents of change.

Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Youth Parliament in
Collaboration with THINK INDIA.

Think India

Think India is a student-led forum that endeavors to bind students with an Indic string
in order to harness this part of our national treasure while also encouraging them to
work for the cause of the nation. The forum facilitates opportunities for the youth and
helps them in their overall development, thereby creating future leaders,
entrepreneurs and change makers.Think India as a student run-organization runs
25+ forums that includes the International law Forum, Constitutional Law Forum,
International Relations Forum, Debating Forum and many more. It holds its bi-yearly
month long internship programmes under the names of Vidhi (legal), Niti (Public
Policy), Sandiya (Member of Parliament Internship), Anubhooti (NGO Internship),
Samvaad (Journalism Internship).

Eligibility Criteria

Students pursuing any graduation programme from any recognized


college/university may participate in the Youth Parliament. Law and Non-law
students, all can participate.

General Rules

Ø The Organizing Committee shall accept the registration of a maximum of 40


entries on first come first serve basis. There can be multiple entries from each
college/institution.
Ø The Registration Fee is non-refundable.
Ø Anonymity is our priority, so the delegate must enter the meeting room with
their respective portfolio names and not by their own names.
Ø Dress code should be Decent Business Formals or in accordance with the
portfolio.
Ø The cameras of all the delegates must be switched on and the microphone
must be muted unless EB allows. If there is any genuine reason for the
cameras to be switched off, it should be prior intimated to the organizing team.
Ø English would be the official language for the purpose of drafting whereas for
the oral proceedings, it stands bilingual.

LAW OLYMPIAD

It aims to make legal knowledge enriching for students. It will help to create
awareness among the young students about the nuances of law. Also, it will help to
identify the capability of a student and assess his/her potential to compete in today's
world. It seeks to reward industry and excellence and also prepare the students to
face the challenges ahead. This will be a diverting task for students which will
encourage them to take a step ahead and read outside of the textbooks and delve
into the intricacies of the issues facing the society help them to gain a better
understanding of law.

Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Law Olympiad in Collaboration
with PRATHAM PREP TEST.

Pratham Prep Test

Pratham is an educational institute that remains adamant in emerging as one of the


leading institutes, enhancing the budding youth into successful individuals. This
extravagantly leading organization is simply an epitome of hard work, blended with
aspiration and perseverance. It’s optimistic approach helps many achieve their
career goals by brushing their strengths. the institute altogether has been embracing
brilliance, knowledge and education that help students foster and discover their
aptitude. Pratham directs students to cling on to these stimulating aptitudes, so that
they can compete, excel and ace in number of entrance examinations, framing a
bright picture of their future.

Eligibility Criteria

Students pursuing their full time 3-year or 5-year LLB program from a University or
Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to apply.

Ø There can be multiple entries from each college/institution.


Ø The competition shall comprise of 100 multiple choice questions.
Ø The competition shall comprise questions from Current Affairs, The Indian
Contract Act, The Indian Constitution, The Criminal Law, The Family Law the
Property Law and The Logical Reasoning. Certificate of participation will be
issued to all the participants and top 2 winners will be awarded on the basis of
the scaling provided in the rulebook.

RULE BOOK FOR JUSTITIA 2021

MEDIATION COMPETITION

CHAPTER I – INTRODUCTION

Centre for Legal Studies, Gitarattan International Business School (hereinafter


referred to as CLS-GIBS), affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University,
hereby launches the 1st Mediation Competition which is scheduled to be
conducted on 26th – 27th October, 2021, to enable law students from all across India
to participate and showcase their skills in resolving disputes through Mediation.

CLS-GIBS hereby makes the following rules for the NMC.

1. Short Title and Commencement

a) These rules may be called ‘MEDIATION RULES & PROCEDURE, 2021’.


b) They shall come into force from the date of publication, on the official website
of
GIBS.

2. Definitions

In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires:

a) "CLS,GIBS" refers to Centre for Legal Studies, Gitarattan International


Business School (hereinafter referred to as "CLS,GIBS"), affiliated to Guru
Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

b) "Advanced Rounds" refers to Semi-Finals and Final Round of the


Competition.

c) "Clarifications" refers to the queries arising out of the mediation problem that
would only be accepted and reverted to in the timeline prescribed.

d) "Competition" refers to the 1st Mediation Competition at CLS,GIBS.

e) "Conference Room" refers to the virtual venue of the mediation session.

f) "Institute" refers to the Centre for Legal Studies, Gitarattan International


Business School (hereinafter referred to as "CLS-GIBS"), affiliated to Guru
Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

g) "Judge" refers to a professionals selected by the Organizing Committee to


evaluate and score the teams’ performances during a mediation session in
accordance with the judging criteria.

h) "Mediating Pair" refers to the client and counsel pair of the participating team.

i) "Mediation Session" refers to the timeframe for each round as specified in the
rules below.

j) "Mediator" refers to the third member of the Mediating Team who has applied
and registered for the Competition as a participant.

k) "Organizing Committee" refers to the body of student-faculty-staff of CLS-


GIBS and includes any other person, appointed by the Institute for the
administration and functioning of the Competition.

l) "Participants" refers to and includes only the bona-fide representatives of the


University/College/Institute who have applied and registered for the
Competition by complying with the procedure prescribed hereinafter.

m) "Qualifying Rounds" refers to Preliminary Round I and Preliminary Round II of


the Competition.

n) "Requesting Party" and "Responding Party" refer to the competing team which
argues on behalf of the party requesting the Mediation and the party
responding to the request for Mediation at any given point in the Competition.

o) "Team" refers to the Mediating Pair and Mediator representing their Institute.

p) "Team Code" refers to the unique number allotted to the Team which would
be used to identify them throughout the Competition.

q) “Caucus” refers to the private meeting that each party holds with the mediator
during the mediation. These private meetings give participants a chance to

talk to the mediator freely, without the pressure of the other party being there.
Anyone participating in mediation may request a caucus, including the
mediator.

3. Interpretation

The Organizing Committee shall reserve the right to interpret the rules as it may
deem fit in the interests of the participants and the organizers to maintain fairness
and equality in the Competition. The interpretation placed upon these Rules &
Procedure shall be conclusive and the decision of the Organizing Committee
regarding the application of these Rules & Procedure shall be final. Any such
decision shall be binding on all the stakeholders and participants.

CHAPTER II - REGISTRATION

4. Eligibility

Subject to the criteria and conditions laid down by the respective Colleges and
Institutes, students pursuing their full time 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB program from a
university or Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India, are eligible to apply.

5. Number of Teams

Subject to the provisions of this Chapter, the Organizing Committee shall accept the
registration of a maximum of 20 teams on first come first serve basis.

6. Application Process

a) The participants are required to register as a team of 3 students viz, a


Mediating Pair (Client and Counsel) and a Mediator.
b) Each Team shall register themselves through the registration form the link
provided.
c) The payment of registration fees amounting to Rs.1500/- per team shall be
made by the prescribed payment procedure.

d) No Entries will be entertained without authorization Letter from the colleges.


e) The participating team shall mandatorily email a scanned copy of the duly
completed Registration and Payment Form along with the receipt of payment
on mediation@gitarattan.edu.in
f) The Organizing Committee shall send a confirmation of participation email
after verifying the entire process as enlisted under the aforementioned
clauses.
g) Any failure or non-adherence with the aforementioned procedure may be
treated as withdrawal from the competition and no claim of whatsoever nature
shall be entertained thereafter.

7. Registration Procedure

a) Interested teams/Team In-Charges are required to register for the competition


by way of filling the razor pay form.
b) Registration fees is not refundable.

CHAPTER III - THE COMPETITION

8. Format of the Competition

a) The Competition shall comprise of Qualifying Rounds and Advanced Rounds.


b) The Qualifying Rounds shall consist of two Preliminary Rounds and the
Advanced Rounds shall consist of two rounds viz, Semi-Final Round and the
Final Round.

9. Composition of Team

a) A Team shall comprise of only 3 participants viz, Client, Counsel and


Mediator.
b) The Participants may change their roles within their Team only after the prior
intimation and approval of the Organizing Committee.
10. Language

The official and only language of the Competition shall be English.

11. Structure of the Competition

a) The competition will be held across a span of 2 days, commencing on 26th


and 27th October, 2021. The two Preliminary Rounds and Semi-Final round
shall be conducted on 26th October, 2021 followed by the Final Round on 27th
October 2021.

b) Preliminary Rounds

a. Each Team shall be once the Requesting Party and once the
Responding Party in each session.

b. No Team shall compete against the same team more than once in the

Preliminary Rounds.

c) Semi-Final Round

a. Top 4 teams from the Preliminary rounds shall qualify for the Semi-
Final Round.

d) Final Round

a. The top 2 teams from Semi-Final Round shall qualify for the Final
Round.

e) In case of a tie between the scores of two Teams in any round, the following

In case a Team exceeds the given time frame of the Mediation Session of any
round, there shall be negative marking of -1 for exceeding every 2 minutes.

13. Mediation Problem

The Mediation Problem(s) for the preliminary rounds will be provided through mail 3
days prior to the competition and for the following rounds, would be provided prior to
the rounds.

14. Confidential Information

a) Participants shall receive an email by the Organizing Committee carrying


confidential information 40 minutes prior to the allotted time slot.
b) Participants shall not disclose the confidential information to any other
Participant throughout the Competition. Any such disclosure made to other
Participants before or after their round shall lead to immediate disqualification
from the Competition without scope of appeal.

15. Scope of Interpretation

Participants shall restrict the interpretation of the problem to reasonable conclusions


and are not allowed to create additional facts.

16. General Rules of the Competition

a) There shall be two Teams competing against each other in a Conference


Room before the Judges.

b) A Mediation Session shall comprise of six people wherein there shall be two
Mediators and two Mediating Pairs (each Mediating Pair shall comprise of a
client and a counsel).

c) The Mediator(s) shall lead towards a settlement between the two disputing
parties.

d) Breakup of time:

a. Each session shall go on for a time period as prescribed above in


the Rules & Procedure.

b. In the aforementioned time frame, it is the discretion of the Mediator(s)


to adopt the common code of procedure of the mediation session,
provided that no such procedure shall contravene the general rules
of the Competition at any cost.

c. No extra time shall be granted in any case whatsoever.

e) Private Caucuses & Conferences

a. During the session, it is solely to the discretion of the Mediator(s) to call


for caucuses or conferences, whichever he/she may want.

b. A caucus is private meeting between one party and the Mediators while
a conference is a joint session between both the parties and a
Mediator.

c. However, the Mediator(s) shall call for at least one caucus or


conference in order to facilitate the mediation process.

d. Whenever the Mediator(s) calls for a caucus, the other party shall leave
the room. The caucus shall take place between the Mediator and one
party at once.

e. During the call for a conference by the Mediator(s), both parties shall
be present in the room.

f. The Mediator(s) are permitted to call for both, caucuses and


conferences, whichever he/she may deem fit in the interest of the
parties. Provided that the disputing parties may request the Mediator(s)
to conduct a caucus.

f) The Team(s) may carry and use its own prepared notes for its own use and
may, if need be, make its own notes during the Mediation Session. Usage of
electronic devices during the session is strictly prohibited. No audio or
videotaping of Mediation Sessions is permitted.

17. Clarifications

The Team(s) may submit queries regarding the mediation problem during the
prescribed time frame. The response to the Clarifications is subject to the drafter's
discretion. The Clarifications will not be accepted after the given time.

18. Dress Code

a) The dress code for the Competition shall be business formals.


b) The above-mentioned dress code extends to the Inaugural and Valedictory
Ceremony as well.

19. Winners
a) The Team that scores the highest in the Final Round shall be declared as the
“Winners”
b) The other Team that qualifies to the Final Round shall be declared as the
“Runners-Up”
c) Best Mediator shall be declared on the basis of highest average marks
obtained in the Preliminary rounds.
d) Best Counsel shall be declared on the basis of highest average marks
obtained in the Preliminary rounds.

CHAPTER IV - CODE OF CONDUCT

20. Code of Conduct applicable to Participants

a) All the Teams are bound to follow the code of conduct and the rules laid down
by the organizing committee.

b) Any behavior of indiscipline with the Judges, Organizing Committee, any other
staff member or student volunteer shall be dealt with strictly and may lead to
immediate disqualification from the Competition without scope of appeal.
c) Any attempt to approach the framer(s) of the problem(s) or the panel of
Judges of the Competition, prior to the Competition shall lead to immediate
disqualification from the Competition without scope of appeal.

21. Anonymity of Teams

a) After the registration of the teams, succeeding the receipt of


acknowledgement, teams shall receive a unique Team Code, which shall be
used to identify the teams during the course of the Competition.
b) No participating Team shall reveal their identity in any form during the
Competition, except by the means of the Team Code allotted to them.
c) Any violation of the provisions of this rule shall attract severe penalty or
disqualification as determined by the Organizing Committee. The decision of
the Organizing Committee in this regard shall be final and binding without
scope of appeal.

22. Scouting

a) No member of any Team will be permitted to witness the proceedings in any


Conference Room in which that Team is not one of the participating Teams
whilst that Team is a part of the Competition. In case of any violation of the
aforementioned rule, the Organizing Committee shall take strict actions, which
may include but not limited to, the expulsion of the said team from the
Competition.

CHAPTER V - MISCELLANEOUS

23. Power to make Amendements, Modification or Revocations

a) The Organizing Committee shall have power to amend, modify or revoke the
provisions of these rules, either in part or in whole, subject to the feasibility,
transparency and smooth functioning of the Competition.
b) Any such amendment or modification shall come into force upon the
notification of such amendment or modification as the case may be.
c) Any such amendment or modification shall be deemed to be part of these
rules.

24. Savings

a) Nothing in these Rules & procedure shall prejudice any right which any
Participant would have had before the enactment of this Rules & Procedure.
b) The Organizing Committee or the Institute shall not be held responsible for
any actions of the Participants before or during the course of the Competition,
which are violative under the present Rules & Procedure.

INTRODUCTION

1. Objectives
a) To improve and demonstrate debating & public speaking skills of law
students.
b) To promote the exchange of ideas and thoughts among students.
c) To spread maximum legal awareness among law students.
d) To give exposure to the current Legal issues.
e) To provide a platform for students to voice out their opinions on current global
issues and exploring various solutions to the crisis.

2. Eligibility
Students pursuing any law course of 3-year or 5-year duration from any University
/Institute/College approved by Bar Council of India are eligible to take part in this
event. Both the team members must be long to same University/Institute/College.

3. Registration
a) Last date for the Registration in the Virtual Debate Competition is 9th
October 2021 with Registration fee of Rs 500/- per team. For any
clarification mail at debate@gitarattan.edu.in

b) No Entries will be entertained without authorization Letter from the colleges.

c) Registration fees is not refundable.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The Organizing Committee shall accept the registration of a maximum of 24 Teams


on first come first serve basis.

a) There will be Two Rounds: Preliminary and Final. All the Teams will be
placed under different groups in the Preliminary Round. From every group
best TWO Teams will be selected for Final Round.
b) The Team Score will be calculated by adding both the team members'
individual score.
c) For Best Speaker Award, individual participant's score at preliminary round
will be considered.
d) Every Participant has the liability to make himself/herself present in the
Virtual Platform. For that software and hardware issues are the responsibility
of the participant as well as the team. Both the members of a team must be
present for the competition at all stages.
e) The language for the debate competition shall be English only.
f) The total time allotted for each team is 12 minutes for Preliminary Round
including rebuttal and sur-rebuttal. Team shall decide the time limit of the
speaker 1 and speaker 2 but the minimum time for a speaker is 3 minutes.
g) The total time allotted for each team is 18 minutes for Final Round including
rebuttal and sur-rebuttal. Team shall decide the time limit of the speaker 1
and speaker 2 but the minimum time for a speaker is 4 minutes
h) Team shall decide Speaker 1 and Speaker 2. Speaker 1 will debate 'For the
Motion' and speaker 2 will debate on 'Against the Motion'.

i) The Link for joining the competition will be shared after Draw of Lots. Every
team has to join the same for purpose of room allotment.
j) Formal Attire (white shirt and black pant- for both male and female
participants) is compulsory.
k) Use of Webcam/Face Camera while speaking is mandatory.
l) Reading from any written Document is prohibited. If it is observed by the
Judges/organizer, the teams will be disqualified.
m) Usage of any abusive language/Obscene language shall implicate
immediate disqualification of candidature.
n) Every team has to join the meeting 10 minutes prior to the allotted time. The
organizing committee will let you in the meeting room.
o) Every participant has to make sure that they have a proper internet
connection with Camera and Microphone. In case of poor signals or black
out from participants, they will not be given any additional time or any other
compensation. And it shall be deemed that the participant is done with the
debate. CLS, GIBS shall not be held responsible for connectivity issues of
any kind.
p) Once Registrations are done, no changes in names shall be allowed and the
amount paid shall be non-refundable.
q) CLS, GIBS reserves the right to alter or change the rules or the procedure of
the competition.
r) CLS, GIBS shall have sole discretion to assess penalties or to disqualify
teams for any failure in abiding by any of the foregoing Rules.
s) Team Codes will be allotted to each team after the formal registration and
they should represent themselves throughout the competition with the
allotted Team Code. All team members must refrain from disclosing the
identity of their institution at anytime and in any manner during the entire
competition. Non-compliance with this Rule shall result in immediate
disqualification of the team. The decision of CLS, GIBS in this regard shall
be final and binding.

u) The decision of the Judges and the Institution on any issue arising during
the competition shall be final and binding.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

It's a matter of privilege to call the Lok Sabha at Centre for Legal Studies, Gitarattan
International Business School, and Delhi on 28th - 29th October 2021.

We extend our invitation and welcome you for this session of the Youth Parliament.
The law-making bodies are required to discuss various local, national and
international issues and then make suitable laws on them. The members of these
bodies present all points of views and try to represent all kinds of interests related to
a problem. An effort is always made to take such a decision as would please most
and antagonize least. Such decisions are frequently taken by Parliament. The
decisions of Parliament are important since they affect the whole country. Each one
of us is affected by the decisions of Parliament. The decisions are the result of long
drawn debates. Extensive discussion on the contemporary socio-political issues shall
take place among Law and Non Law students participating across the nation and
necessary outcomes shall enable the youth to think and design the newer policies
and framework which shall help the society at large to grow.

GENERAL RULES OF THE COMPETITION

a) The Organizing Committee shall accept the registration of a maximum of 40


entries on first come first serve basis. There can be multiple entries from each
college/institution.

b) Lok Sabha is the only committee which would be in working during the Youth
Parliament Competition.
c) Students from all over India pursuing any eligible course either law/non law
may participate in the Youth Parliament.
d) The Registration Fee is non-refundable.
e) Anonymity is our priority, so the delegate must enter the meeting room with
their respective portfolio names and not by their own names.
f) Dress code- Decent Business Formals or in accordance with the portfolio.
g) The cameras of all the delegates must be switched on and the microphone
must be muted unless EB allows. If there is any genuine reason for the
cameras to be switched off, it should be prior intimated to the organizing team.
h) Any kind of nuisance, vulgar language, and non- parliamentary language
would directly lead to disqualification.
i) CLS-GIBS reserve the right to alter or change the rules or the procedure of
the event.
j) No request for the change of the portfolio would be entertained.
k) Non-compliance of the rules would lead to disqualification of the members on
the discretion of the judges.
l) Portfolios will be given on the basis of prior experience.
m) English would be the official language for any type of printed communication
otherwise the competition stands bilingual including both English and Hindi.

LAW OLYMPIAD

GENERAL RULES OF THE COMPETITION

a) The competition will take place on 28th October 2021 in virtual form and
shall be proctored by online invigilation.
b) The time slot of the competition shall be 05:00pm – 06:00 pm
c) The registration shall be deemed complete only when the registration form is
complete, and the registration fee is paid.
d) After registering for the event, the candidates shall receive a confirmation mail
of the same and further information shall be shared via official mail only.
e) Interested candidates must register themselves latest by 9th October 2021.
f) There can be multiple entries from each college/institution.
g) Students pursuing their full time 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB program and LLM
program from a University or Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India,
are eligible to apply.
h) Use of mobile or other electronic instruments during the event is strictly
prohibited and any candidate found engaging in such activities shall be
immediately disqualified.
i) The candidates are requested to ensure a stable internet connection with
workable microphone and camera throughout the competition.
j) The competition shall comprise of 100 questions; in multiple choice questions
to be solved in 1 hour . Each correct answer will award 2 marks and negative
marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
k) In case of tie, there will be a separate National Law Olympiad in multiple
choice questions between the tie participants which will be of less than 1 hour
and the no. of questions will be informed to the participants accordingly with
same marking as above.
l) The competition shall comprise questions from The Current affairs , The
Indian Contract Act and The Indian Constitution, The Criminal Law, The
Family Law, The Property Law, The Logical Reasoning.

m) The rules of the competition should be strictly adhered to. Any deviation from
them would attract disqualification or other penalties as decided by the
organizers.
n) Decision taken by the organizers in case of any dispute, doubt or
disqualification shall be final and binding.
