Do you think Radiohead's plan to allow fans to name their own price for the downloaded
version of In Rainbows is a good idea? Why or why not?
2. Good Idea in case of Higher profit margin -In Rainbows, it had been downloaded 1.8 million
times, generating $2.26 per album (60% opting for the free download). Without costs of
production, stocks, transport, or cuts to the middleman, Radiohead claims it made more
money off the “pay what you want” release than any other album -Without a label to have
to pay for, they took all of the funds themselves.

Bad Idea - Most people will choose to download for free, thus reducing the profit

I don’t think Radiohead’s plan to allow fans to name their price for the downloaded version of In
Rainbows was a good idea. Because Radiohead was already a very well-known brand, I believe
people would have ordered their albums no matter what price they were. That being said, I support
their decision to leave their record label because they were only losing out on money at that point.
