Name : Junela B. latigay BEED 2A

Duration : 50 minutes Learning Delivery Modality : Online Learning
Level : 6 Date :
Content Standard :The learner demonstrates understanding of line graphs and experimental
probability.
Performance Standard : The learner is able to create and interpret representations of data (tables
and line graphs) and apply experimental probability in mathematical problems and real -life
situations.
I. Objective :
At the end of the lesson, pupils are expected to :
 Demonstrate understanding of what graph is
 interpret data presented in different kinds of graphs

2. Checking of Attendance
B. Developmental Activities
Engage :
- Play a song ( the graph song ) https://youtu.be/yZJR2MzkBrU
1. What are the graphs mentioned in the song?
2. In the music video how many cat owners were asked if what color are their pet
cats?
3. In the video watched, what was written on the vertical axis of the bar graph?
4. Basing on the song. What is the similarity between the bar graph and the picture
graph? What are there difference ?
5. What did the safari guide do to know where are the most giraffes?
Explore :
 Ask the children their favorite color and its significance to them.
 Let the pupils group themselves according to their favorite colors.
 When already grouped, let them count how many members are in each
group.
 Tell the students that they are going to look at data collected by another
groups.
Explain :
Graph- defined as a pictorial representation or a diagram that represents data or
values in an organized manner. The points on the graph often represent the
relationship between two or more things.

1. Bar graph - A bar graph is a chart that plots data using rectangular bars or
columns (called bins) that represent the total amount of observations in the
data for that category.
 Bar graphs can be created to show data in multiple, highly visual ways.
 Bar graphs have an x- and y-axis and can be used to showcase one, two, or many categories of
data.
 Data is presented via vertical or horizontal columns.

2. A picture graph-  is a pictorial display of data with symbols, icons, and
pictures to represent different quantities. The symbols, icons, and pictures of
a picture graph typically represent concepts or ideas, or stand in for a larger
quantity of something.

3. A line graph - is a type of chart used to show information that changes over

time. We plot line graphs using several points connected by straight lines.
We also call it a line chart. The line graph comprises of two axes known as ‘x’
axis and ‘y’ axis.
-The horizontal axis is known as the x-axis.
- The vertical axis is known as the y-axis.

 Parts of a line graph

The given image describes the parts of a line graph.
Title: tells about the data for each line graph is plotted.
x-axis: tells about labels on x-axis, which is generally time.
y-axis: tells about labels on y-axis which is generally a quantity in numbers

Extend:

 Provide a problem for the students to graph.

 Provide graphs for students to interpret data.

Mrs. Lara’s class made a list of all the student’s favorite hobbies, then turned the information
into a pie chart. Use the pie graph to answer the questions below.

1) What is the favorite hobby of

most of the students’ in
Mrs. Lara’s class?
2) What was the favorite sport of
17% of Mrs. Lara’s class?
3) What percentage of
camping and sports are in total?
4) What is the least favorite hobby of the students’ in Mrs. Lara’s class?

5) What hobby is more liked than both camping and drawing?

Evaluate :
Check children’s understanding of graph by giving a quiz and asking them to
construct a chart of their choices.
IV. Evaluation
Teacher June has a day care learning center. Everyday, her problem is that there is
always a late student in her class so she wanted to know how her students are traveling
from home to school and what transportation are they using. The data She gathered are
as follows :
Out of her 30 students ten are taking 10 buses, 4 are riding on their own cars, 7
are just walking, 5 are riding on a train and 4 are riding their bicycles. Help
teacher June to organize and graph the data to easily know the students’ mode of
transportation daily.
