1. Determine the number of degrees of freedom for the systems shown in Figure E1.7. Assume
that the length L of the pendulums shown in Figure a. is constant and that the length between
each pair of particles in Figure b. is constant. Hint: For Figure c, the rigid body can be thought of
as a system of particles where the length between each pair of particles is constant.
