“According to Buddhism, our ideas of God and Soul
are false and empty”
–Walpola Rahula
“ The Buddhist is an atheist and Buddhism in both its
Theravada and Mahayana forms is atheism”
–K N Jayatilleke
“Within [Buddhist] philosophical worldview it is almost imposible to
have any room for an atemporal, eternal, absolute truth. Nor is it
possible to accommodate the concept of divine Creation.”
–Dalai Lama
Parliament of World Religions in Chicago 1993
“The Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was not God or a god.
He was a human being who attained full enlightenment through
meditation and showed us the path of spiritual awakening and
freedom.  Therefore, Buddhism is not a religion of God.”
“ Therefore, for these pragmatic reasons, belief in a personal God is not prohibited as long as it
does not become an obstacle, but an incentive to the moral and spiritual development”
-KN Jayatileke
What is Man
Five Aggregates: the sum of physical and mental
elements (pancakkhanda)

1. jasmani (rupakkhanda)

2. perasaan (vedanakkhanda)

3. persepsi (sannakkhanda)

4. pikiran (samkharakkhanda)

5. kesadaran (vinnanakkhanda)
“The Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was not God or a god.
He was a human being who attained full enlightenment through
meditation and showed us the path of spiritual awakening and
freedom.  Therefore, Buddhism is not a religion of God.”
What makes you you
There is no ‘self’
Everything is changing (annikka)

There is no atman/jiva/soul

There is no “I” nor “you”

“I” don’t exist

It is the result of illusion, ignorance, and

the cause of suffering
Life under Karma

(Petikan Anguttara Nikaya 1 hal 31)
REINCARNATION (HINDUISM) &. REBIRTH (BUDDHISM)
Six Realms in
Tibetan Buddhism
Nibbana-Nirvana
Nirvana is a state where all of our desires have ceased: the extinction of all lusts, wants, and
relations. Nirvana is the true sunyata (emptiness): no death, no change, and no rebirth.
