COVID-19 is an infectious disease that belongs to the family of viruses called Coronaviridae.

It
was initially referred as Novel Coronavirus 19 but later on, the World Health Organization gave its official
name as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2. It was originated in Wuhan
City, China in December 2019. It is believed to have zoonotic origin suggesting that it emerged from bat-
borne virus.

COVID-19 starts with droplets from an infected person’s cough, sneeze, or breath. They could be on
a surface that you touch before touching the eyes, nose, or mouth. That gives the virus a passage to the
mucous membranes in the throat. It is major threat to us, human beings, as it affects our respiratory tract.
Lungs might become inflamed, making it tough to breathe. This can lead to pneumonia, an infection that
inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs, causing cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and difficulty
breathing. Covid- 19 can make some people very ill that will lead to fatality. Older people and those who
have pre-existing medical conditions are more like to adapt the virus as they appear to be more
vulnerable.

This Covid-19 pandemic is defined as global health crisis due to the rapid increase in the number
of cases around the globe. Millions and Millions of lives were reported dead. But the pandemic is much
more than a health crisis, it's also an unprecedented socio-economic crisis.
