I. They say it is in town IV. And sometimes night finds them


that many joys are to be found still companionably eating
that it is there in the hills, the plains,
where good things abound. and in the rice fields.

II. Nothing in wanting, they say, V. Of our poverty


nothing is unobtainable I don’t complain,
whatever man may for life in town
in town desire. I have no envy.

III. But surely there VI. For here shines as well


no bird songs are heard. the sun and the moon
no mayas are scattered and here the gentle breeze
in the field of ripening grain. is balm for weariness.
