As all of you obviously know, we are already in this digital era where almost everywhere you

look, people are busy typing on their smart phones and using their gadgets. I can say that we are
already consumed by technology and Internet. Further, I believe that the Internet will not give
harm and adverse impacts when utilized properly and wisely, most especially that now, we have
entered the so-called “new normal”.

In this time of pandemic, technology and the Internet became our buddies (maybe
sometimes that’s not the case when they malfunction, but it’s never a doubt that they are very
useful); and they indeed, helped us and still helping us to survive during these times. Same goes
for businesses and their business owners. It’s a common knowledge that many have shifted from
traditional selling such as physical stores and face-to-face transactions to online stores. Thus, as
competitors are rising in the online world, businesses should establish their business where they
would be deemed in a favorable business position. However, they must consider the issues that
are attached to it.

First, business owners must consider their social media platform and their customers.
“Where are my customers usually and commonly found?” and “Which social media platform has
a lot of users or is the most popular nowadays?” Make sure that you choose the appropriate
platform. For example, if you are selling school supplies, then your target market are the students
and we all know students can be found in almost every social media platform. Hence, the
appropriate platform for your business is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, Shopee, etc.
However, if your target market are parents who are 30-50 years old, then the most appropriate
platform would be Facebook and Shopee only since those are the platforms they usually engage
with.

Second, you must also consider if utilizing the Internet and engaging in online business
would be budget-friendly and less costly. In this time of pandemic where almost everyone is
struggling, we should be more practical and think thoroughly before making a decision.

In the end, in decision-making and considering issues, the pros must always outweigh
the cons. It ain’t easy that’s why better think about it TWICE!
