Justification for Contract Extension for Hafiz M. Hussain (Welder):

Hafiz M. Hussain (PFL-01044) has been in Workshop as a maintenance welder for last 47 years.
His special maintenance skills in addition to electric welding include:

• Repair Welding of broken and/ or cracked intricate / complex cast iron parts
• Brazing of Bronze & Brass items on electric motors & transformers etc.
• Soldering of small / miniature items
• Copper welding of copper parts
• Refurbishment of badly worn out NP / CAN pump parts by SS welding / patching (damaged by
slurry)
• Instrument control valve seats welding & refurbishment
• Repair of extra-hard heavy earth moving equipment parts / bodies.

He is an expert in all above repair / reclamation / refurbishment jobs. His welding skills have
resulted in refurbishment of various costly damaged / worn out parts saving PKR 15 million on average
every year. His services are valuable for PFL. Moreover, he is one of the most regular employee of PFL
Workshop.

He is still in good health and is active. Unfortunately, previous attempts to prepare / train his
replacements were not fruitful due to high attrition rate of under-training personnel.
We have again dedicated a permanent Tech-III with Hafiz Hussain to transfer the art of special
welding in upcoming months. Hafiz Hussain has been training him on special welding for ten months
after which skill assessment shall be performed.
Moreover, we are searching for hiring a suitable person with nearly equivalent skills of
maintenance welding so that another resource may be available for these specialized jobs.

Therefore, it is suggested to extend contract of Hafiz M. Hussain for one year. However, his
assessment may be done after 6 months.
