Every year in January ,Americans celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday - which became one of just ten
national holidays in 1986 – by honoring him and remembering his life and (1)…………………. in the civil rights
movement .
For millions of black Americans , King was the prophet who gave them hope in their struggle for equality .He
was their voice of anguish ,their battle cry for human dignity ,and their (2)……………………. guide in the fight
against segregation .
For millions of white Americans , King built a bridge of communication between races .He was the sting of
