Just in the beginning, it's heartbreaking to hear that children don't have any health center

nearby as well as the old man scrambling for his packaged medicine which almost made me
tear up. The mother with her complaining son about having no health center due to having
constant blisters is also a sad sight to see and hear. The barangay health centers that are there
seem to be in poor conditions and really just look like a home rather than a medical facility.
Surprising to hear that even though if a health center is built there would generally at first only
be one health worker to maintain it. One billion pesos for 600 units! Each phase cost hundreds
of millions of pesos, unbelievable. Some of the built health stations are rushed to be built and
often results in a mess causing more problems. Some promised health centers don't show up,
disappointing. Some health centers aren't fully finished often resulting in the skeleton of the
stations rusting and being covered in plants; some don't get reported to be completed. This
video only has 80k views which is shocking, such a testament needs as much views as the
wasted millions spent constructing unfinished health stations. I have never truly understood on
why the DOH failed in implementing the BHS project since they are firstly part of the
government and a big organization. It makes me feel like doing something to help but I'm not
sure on how I could even accomplish that. It's even more weird that this was published in 2018
which only happened a few years back which reflects on how even though the world has
advanced there are still things that aren't, painting a stark contrast with human innovation to
laziness. I'm not even sure if being slothful can be the blame as just one aspect can't explain all
of the problems the barangay health stations have gone through. It appears one of the solutions
to the incomplete constructions would be having overseers or simply the inhabitants of a
barangay to spectate the workers building the projects. If there appears to be a long gap of no
construction then the citizens should look for the manager of the barangay being built in their
community. It has never occurred to me that even in 2018, there are still Filipinos not being able
to access basic health needs through a health station. This video has completely made me
more grateful for what I have and will have. This in turn has already hardened my resolve on not
wasting my life scrolling through TikTok, mindlessly scrolling through other apps and to improve
myself. Myself and others have the luxury to stagnate our potential while there are kids who
have already hit a glass ceiling. I feel lost on what do to while I type but I'm now made even
more sure to pass college and help others as a future registered nurse. Hopefully, in the future
there will be leaders that will change this outcome, maybe one of those could be me.
