Introduction
Product Overview
The HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset PE is a headset designed to enhance the Mixed Reality
experience for professionals in a variety of different business sectors. It can connect to any device that
supports Mixed Reality via a 2-in-1 (HDMI 2.0 + USB 3.0) cable, and ships with a 0.6m cable to connect
to the HP Z VR Backpack PC.

The headset is plug-and-play, and ships with two motion controllers, which connect via Bluetooth for
a hassle-free setup. Other than the connected laptop or PC, the headset does not require any extra
peripherals or hardware to work. The headset features two front-facing cameras, and the motion
controllers feature constellation LEDs, which are both used to track the user’s movements.

Key features
The headset has the following key features:
• Dual display: Two displays with 1440 x 1440 resolution per eye, giving it a combined resolution of
2880 x 1440.
• Wide field of view: Supports a 100-degree horizontal field of view.
• Six Degrees of Freedom: Not only tracks the user’s headset movements as they look around, but
also tracks the user’s location as they physically move around.

Using the headset

1. Connect the headset’s cable connector to the 2-in-1 HDMI 2.0 + USB 3.0 cable.
2. Connect the two headset USB and HDMI cables directly to the appropriate ports on the PC or
laptop. Do not use any port adapters.

Note: The resolution of the dual displays depends on the version of the HDMI port. The
resolution is 90Hz when paired to HDMI 2.0 port, and 60Hz when paired to HDMI 1.4 port.

3. Once connected, follow the instructions on-screen to complete the setup process.

Note: If the automatic Mixed Reality portal setup window does not appear, use the Start
menu to manually set up the device.

4. To connect the motion controllers, turn them on and put them into Bluetooth pairing mode.

5. If the controllers aren’t working after getting paired to the device, navigate to the Windows Control
Panel, and remove the Bluetooth devices from the connections/device setup page. After that, re-
pair the motion controllers.

Warranty, service, and support

The HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset PE is offered with a one–year HP limited warranty.

Support strategy
Within the warranty period, HP offers the whole unit replacement strategy for the headset. Customers
can order the replacement HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset PE using the HP Spare Part Number:
L25892-001.

In the event that the headset is out of warranty, customers should purchase the whole unit, using the
HP Part Number: 3VM67AA (L25892-001 for NA, L32662-001 for non-NA or ROW, and L32663-001
for China). Other Customer Service Replaceable (CSR) parts for the headset include:

• Motion controller: L25891-001

• Face gasket: L24826-001
• 0.6m HP Z VR Backpack PC cable: L25894-001

Regulatory information location

The headset has unique regulatory information that is used for support purposes and to track
warranty specifications. The regulatory and service information is located on the headset, which is
located at the left inner side of the headset band.

Troubleshooting
Customers could contact HP Call Centers with the following queries regarding the HP Windows Mixed
Reality Headset PE.

Issue Possible solution

The headset does not work on my
version of Windows.
The setup process is not starting
automatically.
The headset does not work when
connected with an adapter.
The headset does not work with
compatible devices.
I’ve encountered problems in the
motion controller setup/with the
motion controllers.
The compatible software with the headset is the Windows 10 Pro
Fall Creator’s Edition. No other Windows version will work with the
headset. Make sure the connected device is up to date.
The headset needs to be connected to the HDMI 2.0 and the USB
3.0 ports. Make sure that the headset is not connected to a USB
2.0 port. If the problem persists, use the Start menu to set the
headset up manually.
The headset does not work with any port adapters. It needs to be
plugged into a PC or laptop directly.
If the headset does not connect with any compatible PCs or
laptops, it will be replaced by HP, only within the warranty period.
Refer customers to the Microsoft Dev Center site for motion
controller support and troubleshooting.
