Job Title: Noncommunicable disease (NCD) and Reproductive Health (RH) Research
Nurse

Key Responsibilities
NCD(Non-communicable disease) Research Nurse

• Conducting the Mini STEPs Survey as part of the research project of Viseisei Sai Health
Centre. This project was funded by UNSW in 2012. The research survey required filling
in the questionnaire forms to take down basic history of the individuals, taking
anthropometry and biochemical (cholesterol, Blood sugar and blood pressure)
measurements. Regular following up on NCD patients identified in the survey at the
Viseisei Sai Health Centre (VSHC) clinic and conducting health education and screening
sessions of them as well.
• This project was later funded by Fiji Community Development Program (FCDP) through
Aus Aid for the intervention phase after the collection of the data in the Mini STEPs.
Duties under this intervention phase included going out to communities to do Health
Education about NCDs, cookery demonstrations and clinical work.
• Manage NCD patients (Hypertension ,diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Dyslipidaemia)
• Data Entry-Data Collection of NCD patients and entry of them in PEN data toolbox
(Package of Essential Non communicable prediction chart)
• Educate to Patients -In house sessions at Viseisei Sai Health Centre clinic every week
with the high risk patients by educating them on awareness of regular physical activity,
effects of smoking and alcohol/kava, regular healthy diet and compliant with medications.
.
• Referral & follow up –Referring Newly diagnosed NCD patients from the communities
and follow up defaulters
*Home visit for old age and disable patient( Triage and replenish Medications)
• Report-Writing reports of each type of sessions/clinic conducted
• Taking Blood samples – Collect blood samples to NCD patients for FBC, Lipids, HbA1c,
RFT etc.
• Presentation- During CHW /VSHC workshops
• Work with CHW-Training of Community Health Workers (CHW), managing them
through regular follow ups and working in collaboration with them during the community
outreach visits.
