Integrants of Mantra Sadhana

This Book will also help a new seeker to get motivated and venture into the ocean of mantra
sadhana. Any of the mental block and hurdles that a seeker has will be cleared out in this part.

The successful completion of your mantra sadhna depends on various factors. But among them,
there are few factors that are of paramount significance. In this book, we will be discussing these
crucial factors briefly and understand as how do they affect your sadhna results.

So stay tuned!!

Importance of Taking Pledge

Before starting any mantra sidhi sadhna, it is very crucial that you take a pledge (Sankalp) in the very
beginning. Taking a pledge means, you vow before the deity that you would finish “n” number of
mantra counts in “n” number of days.

Taking pledge makes you committed towards your sadhna. It shows your sincerity towards the God
and their mantras. On the mental plane, it makes your mind bound towards your goal of completing
it within the pledged time.

What if we don’t take the pledge?

According to our scriptures, it is believed that if you don’t take the pledge, the fruits of your sadhna
go to “Indradeva”- the king of heaven. Obviously, we don’t want that! So, this becomes an important
part of your sadhna.

Besides, while taking pledge, we also make a humble request to God to shower his blessings upon us
and make our sadhna successful.

In our program, we will guide you thoroughly on how to take pledge before starting the all 108
mantra sidhi sadhana courses. We will show all the steps involved in “taking the pledge”.
Importance of Pronunciation

Vedic Mantras are written in Sanskrit language and the syllables of the mantras are such that they
correspond to a particular frequency and wavelength.

The vibrations set in by the sound of these mantras have the powers to propitiate Gods and
Goddesses.

It can also bring you in tune with the benefic energies of the planets. So, a correct pronunciation is
an important factor of mantra sadhna.

You won’t get the results of your mantra chanting, if you pronounce the syllables wrong.

Fixing the Counts of the Mantra

An important aspect of your mantra japa is fixing the number of counts that you would be doing
every day. Try to do the same count of the mantras every day. Don’t try to overdo or under do the
mantra counts.

Mantras have tremendous powers and a lot of energy (usma) is generated while chanting the
mantras. So, try to do as many counts as your body is compatible with.

Overdoing may result in increased blood pressure and acne problems. Underdoing the number of
chants per day may weaken the intensity of the vibrations that you will be projecting to the cosmos.

Try to fix the count on the very first day. Always choose the number of counts that you are most
comfortable with, taking account of your available time and your bodily compatibility.
Fix the Time of Your Mantra Sadhana

It is recommended that you fix the time of the mantra sidhi sadhana every day. Doing the mantra
sadhna at different hours of the day is neither suitable nor recommended.

Like, you are doing mantra sadhna for improving the Surya Grah of your Kundali, then you should do
it early in the morning every day. Moreover, if you have set up your time between 5:30 am to 6:00
am in the morning, then try to be consistent at this time.

Being consistent at one time for your mantra sadhna brings a balance in your body. The sadhna
becomes more uniform. Even your biological clock gets set up to receive the cosmic vibrations of the
Universe. This also brings evenness in your mantra practises, thereby increasing the intensity of the
mantra energies.

So fix your timing for sadhana.

Maintaining a Fixed Place for Sadhana

Most of the time, people ask- Can we do mantra sadhna in our office?

Can we do it while travelling?

See, simple meditation can be done.

But mantra sadhna is different. In mantra sadhna, we absorb the spiritual powers of the mantras.
We connect to our higher self. So, a separate but fixed place has to be maintained for your daily
practises.

One other point worth mentioning here is that you shouldn’t keep changing places for your sadhna.

You might ask-Why?

The answer is- every place has a certain vibration of its own. The objects over there are vibrating to a
particular frequency. Once, you start your sadhna at a particular place, you become compatible to
that frequency. And once you are compatible to it, you gradually start improving focus.

But if the place keeps changing, you would always remain unfocussed as your body would not be in
sync with the energy vibrations of that place.

So, keep the place of your chanting fixed.

So taking pledge, correct pronunciation, fixing the number of counts and the place is of utmost
importance in your mantra sadhna. They are the essential pillars of any mantra practises.

Sadhana Program
Spirituality in Mantra Sadhna

While looking into the mantra sadhna, it looks like the rituals, the chanting and the obligations are
quite mechanical in nature. Isn’t it?

Outwardly, it seems so, but deep down it is a spiritual process. It works by acting on your
subconscious mind, your heart and soul.

The spiritual upliftment is necessary so as to tap into the benefits of the mantra sidhi sadhna.

So, let us understand the hidden roots of the mantra shidhi sadhana.

Importance of Faith

You may have heard a common proverb- “Faith moves mountains”. This may sound silly to a person
living in a materialistic plane, but as a matter of experience- it holds true.

Faith is an attribute of your soul. It is the belief in the things that are hidden & invisible to our naked
eye. Let’s understand this a bit more in detail.

Have you ever seen God?

Obviously No!

But deep down inside you feel that the God is present and omnipotent. Even in your darkest hours,
when your world is falling apart, you feel that God will be there. He will never leave you. This is faith.

Wright Brothers wouldn’t have dared to fly an airplane, if he hadn’t had faith in his thoughts, his
ideas. Thomas Alva Edison wouldn’t have encountered numerous failures in lighting a bulb. This was
the faith in their beliefs that made them create marvellous miracles for the mankind.

You might ask -What is the significance of faith in mantra sadhna?

Mantra sadhna is the ascension of your soul which helps you connect to the divine. It’s a medium
between you and the cosmic forces. So, until and unless you have the unwavering faith in the
mantras, it would be impossible for you to connect to spiritual forces.

So, simply chanting the mantras won’t help. You should have a strong faith in the mantras and to its
attached deities.
However, we understand that faith cannot be reared. It gradually imbibes in us with experience. But
instilling it while mantra sidhi sadhna, will definitely help you going a long way.

Just remember- Every time you increase the elasticity of your faith, miracles happen.

Importance of Trust

You may think that Trust & Faith are one and the same thing. But for your information- these two
terms have a fine line of distinction between them.

Trust develops with the growing faith. It is the thorough understanding of the element without any
doubts.

Let’s understand this with example.

Do you think that you will ever be betrayed by your parents?

Or will your parents ever do you any harm? Of course- No!!!

This is the trust that has developed in you for your parents. There is no reason for doubts when you
trust somebody.

Then, what is the context of trust in mantra sadhna?

You should have the trust put in the mantras. You should always think that the outcome of your
Mantra japa will be fruitful. With increasing trust, it should permeate to the sub-conscious mind and
soul of your body that- “my mantra sadhna will bear positive results”, “I will come out of the
shackles of pain & delusion”.

Trust is like glue that will help you bond with the higher divine. Simply, raise your hands and
surrender yourself to the divinity of the mantras. Rest assured; miracles would happen.

Reverence

Suppose, you are in the midst of a heart-wrenching problem…..You may feel that your mantras are
not working and you might be disrespectful to it. You may either do your sadhna without devotion
or you may completely end it.
But remember-“Mantras are divine hymns written in praise of deities. It should be seen with respect
and must be fully honoured”.

You should never be casual while doing the mantra sadhna. You can whine and complain about your
problems. But being totally rude and discourteous to the mantras, your sadhna will never yield
results.

Therefore, be courteous and show reverence to the mantras and your mantra sadhna.

Right Intent

Have you ever encountered people doing the same thing but getting different results?

So, what makes them get different results?

It’s the right intent!!!

Yes, a right intent is necessary for the mantra sadhna for getting results.

A soldier gets awarded for killing whereas a normal person gets punished by the law. Why?

Because soldier has the intent of protecting his country and countrymen, while a normal person had
the intent of saving his personal interests.

So, a right attitude, right sentiment is necessary for the sadhna.

If you have some hidden intent which can be harmful for other person, the cosmic powers wouldn’t
be happy and your sadhna would go unreciprocated.

So, faith, trust, reverence and intent are spiritual lubricants for your soul which can reduce the
friction of your spiritual ascension.

Consistency is the Key

Problems faced by the Sadhaks

We often come across seekers who pose questions like-

Why am I not able to concentrate on my mantra sadhna?

Why my mantra sadhna is not giving results?

Why my mind is preoccupied with thoughts while doing the sadhna?

And many more….

The solution to these above questions is quite simple- “Consistency”.

Yes, consistency is the key to your mantra sadhana. Without being consistent, you won’t master the
art of meditation.

Keep in mind, without consistency, you can’t get results. Even if you get the results, you won’t be
able to keep it for a long time.

So, what exactly is consistency?

Understanding Consistency

Consistency is an attribute of our mind which makes us constantly and uniformly work towards our
goal. It’s repeating the same thing over and over again, even that is boring. Consistency brings out
evenness in your work.

Have you ever seen a guy with a great physique working out in the gym?

The muscles, the shape and the body language he has attained are not just a matter of few days of
work outs. He has been consistent with his workout routine to attain such a wonderful physique.

So, consistency makes you start from a newbie to a skilled master. It makes you a perfectionist.

In a similar way, while you are doing mantra sadhna, you ought to remain consistent with the daily
mantra chanting accompanied with the rituals.

We know- for some seekers mantra sadhna might be boring. Or you might be finding an excuse for
not doing it daily? But, if you are committed, you will definitely find a way. You need to have interest
in it that can motivate you towards consistency.

Once you become consistent you won’t come up with questions regarding- lack of concentration and
unfocussed mind. They will gradually fade away.
Significance of Consistency in Mantra Sadhna

A consistent approach to mantra sadhna helps the mantras to permeate totally in your sub-
conscious mind. In the best form, it can turn your mantra sadhna into “ajaapajaap”.

In this condition of “ajaapa jaap”, you can be mobile with your mantra. You can practise it anywhere
and anytime.

Consistency in mantra sadhna can lead you to a “skilled meditator” from a “bad meditator”. It’s like
a chisel which can completely shape up your mind, optimal for the mantra sadhna.

So stop giving excuses like – “I don’t have time”; “I am not able to concentrate”; or “the mantra
sadhna is boring”.

If you have the desire, you will be consistent at it. Of course, you might fumble in the beginning, but
gradually you will find success at it.

You might ask- How to have consistency in our sadhana?

Tips for Remaining Consistent

So, here are some tips which can be quite helpful.

Scheduling your time- Set aside a time every day for your mantra practise. Try to set a time when
you have no engagements or meetings. It’s just 45-60 minutes, so stay committed to it.

Make it a routine- Mantra sadhna should be absolved in your daily life as a routine. Don’t think that
it’s only for a few days or few months. It should be a part and parcel in your life.

Check your daily progress- You should always try to check the progress you have made. Like – how
long did you sit for the mantra sadhna today?

How was the experience? How calm your body and mind felt after meditation? We get motivated
when we see the results and that leads to consistency in our work.

Remember, consistency is the key for mantra sadhna. Consistency accompanied with focus can turn
things totally in your favour.
Importance of Faith in Mantras
Our Rational Mind

It’s normal for our rational mind to doubt things and check for its uncertainty. We have arrived at a
point that we actually don’t believe the things that we don’t see.

You can often hear people saying - “I won’t believe until I see it”.

Today modern world has contributed to our rational mind and has killed the faith inside us. We
always look for evidence for the things and the process.

We can believe a simple stone lying on the ground, its power to hit, its force, but we are not in a
condition to believe God. Why?

Because, we can’t see Him. We lack faith in Him.

The uncertainty in our mind regarding things that is invisible varies from person to person. We often
come across seekers who often question the power of the mantras. Like-

Will this mantra really give results?

Shall I opt for this mantra instead of the other one?

There are numerous questions of a sadhak who are sceptical about the working of mantra sadhana.
These are the seekers which we often find complaining about the mantra - “my mantra sadhna
didn’t give results”.

Working of Mantras

But to tell you a fact- “Vedic Mantras are so powerful that it works with our without faith”. Yes, it
has been scientifically proved.

The syllables of these mantras have fixed frequency and wavelength that has the ability to create
vibrations which are in perfect sync with the cosmic energies.

Even a simple chant of “OM” can make you stress free. And on repeated chanting, it has been
experimentally found to lower blood pressure and improve cardiac health.

So, with or without faith- “Mantra Definitely Works”.

If mantras are independent of the faith, then what is the importance of it?

How is it going to affect the results?

Importance of Faith

Faith is the alignment of your mind, your heart, your body that can help you receive the cosmic
energies of the Universe. It makes you perfectly matched with the cosmos at the receiving end.

You receive the maximum benefits of the mantra when you are perfectly disciplined and in tune with
the positive vibrations of the Universe.

It’s the faith in you that keeps you taking the first step towards your goal, even you aren’t aware of
the end results. It’s a fuel of your mantra sadhna that keeps you going.

People who are restless even going half-way of the mantra sadhna usually lack faith in the mantras
and to the deities attached. So, faith is one of the key elements of sadhna. You’ll have to believe it
that it’s working.

Have you heard of the “Placebo effect”?

It’s a phenomenon in the psychological world where are a person feels that he is recovering/healing
from the diseases, simply because of faith in the processes.

So, you have to be under the “Placebo Effect”.

Mantras would yield only partial results if your faith in it is absent.

So, believe in your mantras. Never question the integrity and the working of the mantras.

Just think- “I will get healed”; “I will get abundance”; “This mantra would make my life happy”.

You become what you think. So, think in a positive way.

Faith needs to be cultivated and this is not just a matter of days. You may take time.

So, before jumping directly into the mantra sadhna- “learn to cultivate faith”.

Once you have faith in the mantras, you will see the results manifesting with your eyes.

“Believe it, to receive it”

Laziness- The Silent Killer of
Meditation
Laziness- A Hindrance to Mantra Sadhna

On a physical plane, chanting might look like a simple process. But on the spiritual level, the entire
process is quite complex. The main contributing factor of its complexity arises due to our inabilities
to tame our monkey mind towards discipline and calmness.

Expert meditators and spiritual gurus have cited major hindrances in mantra such as – sensory
desires, ill-feelings, restlessness, doubt and laziness.

Here, we will be discussing about laziness, which forms a major obstacle in mantra sadhna.

So, how do we define laziness in meditation?

Understanding Laziness

Laziness is a state of mind, where a person is not inclined or motivated to follow up his daily sadhna.
Even the resolution made by him fails.

Then, how does laziness manifests itself in our mantra sadhna?

Let us understand this with some common problems a seeker has.

You might often hear-“I desperately need to do the mantra meditation. But, I don’t have time”.
Someone might complain- “I want to do mantra meditation, but I don’t think it will be of any help”.
A few seekers will keep on postponing the mantra meditation timing citing lame excuses.

There can be numerous reasons which a seeker would cite about his inability to start the meditation.
But, one thing that can be ascertained with these excuses is that the “seeker is literally lazy”. And
the laziness is preventing him to follow up with his meditation.

This laziness is so infectious that it might also stop the seeker to stop his sadhna in between or he
may totally call off the sadhna indefinitely.

So, why do seekers feel lazy in mantra sadhna? What might be the cause of it?
Causes of Laziness

Laziness in mantra sadhna arises due to mainly 3 different factors which are:

Lack of Time: Most of the seekers have a hectic schedule which keeps them busy most of the time.
These seekers although interested in mantra sadhna don’t find enough time to perform it. This lack
of time is also due to the fact that these people are too bad in time management.

Loss of Heart: In the mantra world, most of the seekers lose their heart as they are not able to get
the desired results. We often find this people saying- “Why should I do this mantra sadhna when this
won’t fetch results?”

Remember, mantra sadhna is a sacred process and performing it without rituals will definitely lead
to failures. So, instead of losing your heart, you should follow the correct process of it.

Procrastination: This is one of the most common causes of laziness. People are in the habit of
postponing things to a later time. You will find people say- “I will start from tomorrow” or “I am not
in the mood today”. They continuously keep on averting on doing the things and finally they leave
the mantra sadhna in between or they don’t even start it.

Having learnt the basic cause of laziness, let us know some tips to avoid it.

Tips for Overcoming Laziness

Staying committed: One of the best tips for overcoming laziness is to stay committed to your
mantra meditation. Just take a pledge that in any circumstances, you will complete the mantra
sadhna with full devotion.

Take small steps: You can practise daily for small durations of time before starting on the actual
sadhana. For example- chant daily for 10 minutes for a few days. Later keep on increasing the time
form 10 mins to 15 minutes and so on. This will help you get into the habit of meditation.

Don’t panic: There can be certain days where you won’t feel the energy to carry on with your
mantra sadhna. It’s completely normal. For this, you shouldn’t panic too much and take your time to
complete your daily mantra chanting. Patience is the key.

Remember, mantra sadhna should be practised daily. But, if your mind and body gets trapped into
the turbid waters of laziness; it would be very difficult to come out.
Special Instructions for women
Biological Conditions of women

We are furnishing special instructions for women. This is due to the fact that women undergo an
unavoidable menstrual cycle each month. Although it is a natural process, but our Vedic scriptures
opine that- “a woman should not do any mantra sadhna or obligatory rituals during their menstrual
phase”.

Some women would feel this as discriminatory, but we have a scientific understanding to it.

Menstrual cycle is a process of cleaning your body. It is the period of time when your energies are
released from the body. While in mantra chanting, you annihilate the energies arising due to the
powerful sounds of the mantras.

Intrinsically, all your glands gets super activated during the time of mantra chanting. Further, during
menstruation, a woman feels exhausted and she should abstain themselves from any forms of
meditation.

Many women have complained of hot flushes, increased blood pressure & irregular heartbeat.
Women are more prone to acne bursts when they are on sadhna while menstruating.

Rules for Woman Seeker

So, how should a woman sadhak go for the mantra sadhna?

Don’t worry. The solution is quite simple. But you have to be more devoted in following the rules.

Now, let us understand the rules.

A woman sadhak should complete the entire process of mantra chanting in 21 days instead of the
common time period of days.

How will it help the woman sadhaks?

Completing the mantra sadhna in 21 days will keep your mantra sadhna totally separate from your
menstruation period. You will complete the entire obligations and the rituals before entering into
your monthly cycle.

Then how should a seeker go ahead with their mantra within a short frame? Won’t it be too
stressful?

Obviously, completing the mantra sadhna in a span of 21 days will require more efforts on your end.
But don’t freak out. We have a solution to it.
You can start again your sadhan after menstruation period. You can divide you sadhana in 21 days
cycles

Remember, just when your menstrual cycle ends; you should start your mantra sadhna from the
very next day. An early start will be less stressful and you will complete your sadhna with ease.

Special Case

A woman seeker may ask- What shall they do when they encounter the menstrual phase during the
mantra sadhna?

Yes, we know that some women have irregular cycles of menstruation. So, if you experience your
menstruation during the sadhna, simply stop all the rituals and the mantra chanting processes. Ask
for forgiveness from your God that you won’t be able to continue it further.

But remember, you will have to restart the entire process of mantra sadhna from the very beginning.

It is recommended that you should first get yourself medicated, in case; you are having irregular
menstruation cycles. This way, you won’t get into the problem of your monthly cycle intersecting
with the period of mantra sadhna.

This tips are however not applicable to women who have attained their menopause. So, women after
menopause are free to complete the mantra sadhna normally.
