Topic
The introduction makes for a precise start to the essay, bringing to light, the central topic of
discussion i.e. ‘Communication System’, in “A communications system or communication system
is a collection of individual telecommunications networks... and terminal equipment usually
capable of interconnection and interoperation to form an integrated whole.” The paper appears
to talk about various types of communication systems that function across diverse domains like-
“Military Communication Systems” or “Laboratory Communication Services” etc. However,
statements like “...this paper will step back and generally review the components of a
communication system, including the basic concepts of a communication channel... specific
communication problems that arise across health services in the main, including the
community and hospital service delivery” confuse the readers in grasping whether the paper is
focusing on the “role of communication services in health care delivery” as the main topic or as
a subsidiary element supplementing the central theme of discussion. Moreover, the segments on
“Image processing”, “Control system” and “test signals” do not appear to have clear connections
with the topic. You must consider providing a note stating whether or not they constitute the
“components of a communication system”, in order to effectively align them with the ongoing
discussion.

Development
There is sufficient ground to remark that the essay is detail- oriented, as has been deduced from
statements like “The basic components of a modern digital telecommunications system must be
capable of transmitting voice, data, radio, and television signals...part of a larger signal in a
process known as multiplexing.” All stated points are developed to the extent that they are
easily comprehensible. However, the essay needs to incorporate a proper concluding segment
that could efficiently summarize the definition and related components of a “Communication
System” while reiterating upon its multi-faceted utilization across various sectors of civilization.
Page 3

Audience
The tone of the paper is formal and informative, in accordance with the nature of discussion, as
has been inferred from statements like “The care of patients now almost inevitably seems to
involve many different individuals, all needing to share patient information and discuss their
management... information and communication technologies to support health services.” The
paper fares well in sustaining reader’s attention by striving to explain critical technological
concepts in simpler terms, as has been noted in “In automotive engineering, a vehicle bus is a
specialized internal communications network that interconnects components inside a vehicle
(e.g., automobile, bus, train, industrial or agricultural vehicle, ship, or aircraft).” Good!

Organization
The essay displays a diligent attempt at pursuing the standard introduction-body-conclusion
format, while simultaneously ensuring to present one technical concept in a particular paragraph.
For instance- “Image processing is a method to perform some operations on an image... Images
are two- or three-dimensional signals.” explicitly talks about ‘Image processing’. The essay could
still use some organizational aid in the form of paragraph- breaks to cater to the readability
aspect of the paper. For instance, a paragraph- split from “The article focuses the discussion on
speech and audio processing.” to denote a break from the preceding discussion. Besides that, it
would be advisable to shift the segment on “Military Communication Systems” right after the
section highlighting the ““role of communication services in health care delivery” for the
audience to grasp the variety of utilities offered by Communication Systems. In the absence of a
comprehensive conclusion, the ending remarks should appear in a logical order. Therefore the
segment on “Military Communication Systems” should ideally precede the section on “Military
Aeronautical Communications System” because ‘Air power’ or ‘Air Force’ falls under the
overarching ambit of ‘Military’.
Page 4

Cohesion
The paper contained few instances of incoherent discourses that hindered a clear dissemination
of information. For instance, “The article focuses the discussion on speech and audio
processing...and automatic speaker authentication.” is indecipherable because there is little
clarity over the “article” in question, since the text has not mentioned of any such article
throughout the paper. Moreover “Laboratory medicine is perhaps even more poorly studied
than many other areas, such as the interface between primary care and hospital services.”
served as a digression to the ongoing discussion. It is thus advisable to limit the segment to
“laboratory communication services” to maintain its allegiance to the central theme in
consideration.

Word Choice
The essay deploys an impressive palette of words to communicate the point in consideration, as
has been noted in phrases like “enormous gaps in our broad understanding of the role of
communication services”, “establishing natural interfaces between systems and their users”
etc. Miniscule changes are however, not out of question. For instance, the highlighted word in “It
also discusses multimedia applications and shows examples of spoken language systems...” could
be replaced with synonyms like ‘exhibits’ or ‘displays’ to enhance the literary aspect of the
paper.

Grammar and spelling

The paper strives to maintain language accuracy although it needs to rectify few grammatical
anomalies. Avoid inserting unnecessary ellipsis in places where you need to use a period (.)
Example- “...data, radio, and television signals. ... The encoded signal is made suitable” Take note
to hyphenate words like “audiovisual”. A spelling error was observed in “...pilot of a military
aircraft aqywhere (anywhere) in the world...” Run a grammar check with this link

Your paper
A communications system or communication system is a collection of individual telecommunications
networks, transmission systems, relay stations, tributary stations, and terminal equipment usually
capable of interconnection and interoperation to form an integrated whole.

The basic components of a modern digital telecommunications system must be capable of transmitting
voice, data, radio, and television signals. ... The encoded signal is made suitable for transmission by
modulation onto a carrier wave and may be made part of a larger signal in a process known as
multiplexing.

Multimedia communication involves processing, storage, transmission forwarding, and presentation of

audiovisual information, and establishing natural interfaces between systems and their users. The
computing, communication and integration infrastructures needed to support multimedia applications
are also of great interest. Three of the key technologies in realizing multimedia systems are: coding of
audiovisual signals, such as speech, audio, image and video; machine synthesis of these signals; and
machine recognition and verification of the information embedded in these signals. The article focuses
the discussion on speech and audio processing. It addresses the technology dimensions and challenges of
speech and audio coding, text-to-speech synthesis, automatic speech recognition, and automatic speaker
authentication. It illustrates some of the technology capabilities and limitations by a set of demonstration
examples. It also discusses multimedia applications and shows examples of spoken language systems
used to enhance multimedia communication between humans and machines.

In automotive engineering, a vehicle bus is a specialized internal communications network that

interconnects components inside a vehicle (e.g., automobile, bus, train, industrial or agricultural vehicle,
ship, or aircraft).

Signal is revolutionizing the automotive wholesale supply chain. For progressive auto dealers seeking to
transform the way they buy, sell, and manage inventory, Signal enables productivity and performance
advantages – driving increased efficiency, sales, and margins.

Medical

The care of patients now almost inevitably seems to involve many different individuals, all needing to
share patient information and discuss their management. As a consequence there is increasing interest in,
and use of, information and communication technologies to support health services. Yet, while there is
significant discussion of, and investment in, information technologies, communication systems receive
much less attention and the clinical adoption of even simpler services like voice-mail or electronic mail is
still not commonplace in many health services. There remain enormous gaps in our broad understanding
of the role of communication services in health care delivery. Laboratory medicine is perhaps even more
poorly studied than many other areas, such as the interface between primary care and hospital services.
Given this lack of specific information about laboratory communication services, this paper will step back
and generally review the components of a communication system, including the basic concepts of a

communication channel, service, device and interaction mode. The review will then try and summarise
some of what is known about specific communication problems that arise across health services in the
main, including the community and hospital service delivery.

Image processing is a method to perform some operations on an image, in order to get an enhanced
image or to extract some useful information from it. It is a type of signal processing in which input is an
image and output may be image or characteristics/features associated with that image.Image processing
is a subset of digital signal processing. Images are two- or three-dimensional signals.

A control system is a system, which provides the desired response by controlling the output. The
following figure shows the simple block diagram of a control system. Here, the control system is
represented by a single block. Since, the output is controlled by varying input, the control system got this
name

The standard test signals are impulse, step, ramp and parabolic. These signals are used to know the
performance of the control systems using time response of the output.

A military aeronautical communications system would include everything necessary to allow the pilot of a
military aircraft aqywhere in the world to communicate with his command headquarters. The ground/air
radio link, radio, wire, microwave, or forward scatter point-to-point links are included

Military Communication Systems are composed of systems that provide various communication needs of
users in all military platforms. ... The communication systems are designed exclusively to fulfill secure and
seamless voice and data communication demands of Land, Airborne and Naval platforms.
