Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Phase 2 – Scenario 1

1. Activity Description

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

Interpret the information obtained from different data collection instruments through
participatory observation for the application and adaptation of activities in virtual and
face-to-face contexts.

The activity consists of:

For this practical course you must observe 48 hours of English classes, divided into
two parts. 32 hours of observational practice in situ, and 16 hours developed in the
course. For this reason, you need to fill out some forms, which you can find in the
Learning Environment, in your virtual campus. Have in mind that you need to start
filling in the form called “Formato de asistencia al lugar de practicas” ; however,
this need to be sent in phase 4, with the 48 hours.

Please take a look at the “instructivo para el diligenciamiento de formatos de la


práctica pedagógica.”

Step 1: Forms required for this activity:

1. “Plan de Trabajo.”

For this practical activity, you must fill out the form “Plan de Trabajo” available in the
learning environment. Here, you need to fill in the required information, such as your

name, school´s name, teacher´s name…etc. Also, you must get the signatures
required at the end of the Plan de Trabajo. The form must be filled out completely,
the writing must be clear, do not cross anything out. Finally, the format must be
scanned and uploaded in PDF format to your e-portfolio. Name the form like this:
PLAN DE TRABAJO_YOUR NAME. (In capital letters)

2. Carta de presentación

The zone coordinator will send you this document introducing you to the institution in
which you will be working, then you have to upload it to your official e-portfolio.
Name the form like this: CARTA DE PRESENTACIÓN_YOUR NAME. (In capital letters)

3. ARL Certificate

Some days after filling out the ARL form, you will be able to download the certificate.
For this phase, you need to upload that document to your e-portfolio. Name the
certificate like this: CERTIFICADO ARL_YOUR NAME. (In capital letters)

Step 2: School characterization:

Here you must carry out the characterization of the school and the recognition of the
curriculum of the English subject. To do this, you must collect the following
information:

- The approach applied in the school. (Humanism, constructivism, behaviorism)


- School location. (Urban or rural)
- Type of school. (Public or rural)
- School level. (Elementary or high school)
- Does the school offer virtual or face-to-face classes? (In case to be virtual, name
the strategies and tools used for these classes)
- Economic stratification of the students.
- The audiovisual aids in the school. (video beam, computers, English lab…)
- The school year of the course (First grade, second grade…)
- The number of students in the course.
- The English level of the students in the course. (A1, A2, B1, B2)
- English subject methodology. (Direct Method, Communicative Method, Natural
Method)
- The number of hours of English classes per week.
- Name, email, and phone or skype user of your assigned teacher.

Step 3: Comparative Chart

Go to the learning environment and read all about Early Methods and pay special
attention to the second chapter of Approaches and Methods in Language Teaching.
pp.5-17.
Then, you must create a comparative chart about the differences and similarities
among the following concepts:

• Method
• Approach
• Technique
• Procedure
• Design

Step 4: ESAPEC attendance

ECEDU defines the strategy Face-to-face support strategy named ESAPEC, which
consists of a certain number of face-to-face accompaniments to groups of students,
at UNAD headquarters. Considering the above, for this activity, you have to
attend this mandatory meeting whose schedule will be announced in the course
news forum and via email.

In the meeting, you are going to receive some instructions regarding your process of
practices and forms; but also, everybody is going to share experiences related to
observational practices in situ and their impact. Be ready to share your experiences,
everybody will have some minutes to talk.

Do not forget to take some screenshots to add to the final product.

Note: Due to the health emergency (COVID-19), the meeting will be online (zoom,
meets, adobe connect, skype). Attendance is mandatory, and it will have a
percentage of the score in the evaluation rubric.

The forms must be uploaded to your official folder drive, in separated PDF forms.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidence to Submit

For Individual evidence, consider the following:

• Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it meets all
the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.

• The formats must be submitted in PDF format. It must have the student´s and
school teacher’s signatures. All the information required in the formats must be
filled in.
Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.

Under the Academic Code of Conduct, the actions that infringe the academic order,
among others, are the following: paragraph e) Plagiarism is to present as your own
work all or part of a written report, task or document of invention carried out by
another person. It also implies the use of citations or lack of references, or it
includes citations where there is no match between these and the reference and

The academic penalties students will face are:


a) In case of academic fraud demonstrated in the academic work or evaluation, the
score obtained will be zero (0.0) without any disciplinary measures being derived.
b) In case of proven plagiarism in academic work of any nature, the score obtained
will be zero (0.0), without any disciplinary measures being derived.
