‫یُس آسہ شب و روز منز نارس‬
‫بیم دزنک کیْاہ چُھ تس‬
Andir lole naaran bu zaejinas;
Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.
Yus aasi shab o roz manz naaras;
Beem daznuk kya chhu tas.
Beem daznuk chi khaam aashiqas;
Waay! Reh ne that, duh ne tath.

The fire of love within has burnt me down;

Alas! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

One who is in the fire day and night;

Is not afraid of being burnt (in love).

(Only) the half baked lover is afraid of being burnt;

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

Chhih pemichh chhem mey jigras;

Doad dili-kui baave kas?

Seene michhrith haal baavas;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.


A flaming spark has fell on my core,

With whom shall I share ailment of my heart?

Tearing open my chest (heart), I will confide my state,

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

Pompuirr paan zoal path shama’as;

Saaz tay awaaz maa draayas.

Maechh karyaa maan zanh paan zaalnas;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.

The moth burnt itself in pursuit of the candle,

It did not make a single sound (neither out of pain nor in ecstasy)

Will a housefly ever compete (with the moth) to burn itself (in the fire of love)?

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

Shravn’i sheen zan gaejinas;

Ishqe kraaye laejinas.

Lole naaran zaaej myeen was;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.

(My beloved) melted (destroyed) me like snow is destroyed by July heat;

(And) engaged me into the scorching of love.

The fire of love burnt my marrow (core),

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.


Shravun: The season of July-August.

Andri tondre naaran bu zaaejinas;

Kami chhandan-daaran haa gaaejinas.

Daez daez seeit chhu mazze kababas;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.

chhandan-daaran: Composed of the Sandal-wood. Fragrant as sandal-wood.

The oven-like fire within me has burnt me down,

Such (a great) fragrant beloved has destroyed me.

(But) the Kebab becomes worth savouring when roasted in fire,

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

Wuchhte kya banyaav Majnoonas;

Laael chharaan khot su Najdas.

Sui naar lolvun manz seenas;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.

Look what happened to Majnoon (in love);

Seeking his Laila, he even went to Najad.

That fire (of love) he kept alive in his chest (heart),

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

Wucchte kya banyaav Farhaadas;


Aab khoalun petth parbatas.

Lolan taali kin chhatth kaednas;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.

Look what happened to Farhad (in love);

He drilled water in the mountain (to get his love).

The love flared him inside out (in frustration of losing beloved),

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.

Rahim Shaha mo lag bul hawas;

Kruuth manzila chhu aashiqas,

Ishqe mad’e waalaan chhi husnas;

Waay! Reh ne tath, duh ne tath.

O Rahim Shah! Don’t behave like a greedy person,

The destination of love is very severe.

The love annihilates the pride of beauty (of lover),

Mercy! This fire neither has fire nor smoke.
