We understand that in order for this position to be approved for practicum, the teacher candidate must: 
 
1. be observed by a Hunter College Clinical Supervisor 
2. video record classroom activities for course and certification purposes, including children’s faces 
3. teach in one of the following selected settings (please circle): 
 
a. Adolescent Generalist - Special Education: ​Teach full-time grades 7-12, 80% of the day in 
a classroom that has at least 3 students with IEPs 
 
b. Adolescent Programs (English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Spanish, Italian, French, 
Latin, Chinese, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, Biology):​ Teach full-time grades 7-12, 
80% of the day in their content.  
 
c. Bilingual: ​Teach full-time​ ​in a dual language/bilingual ed classroom in the language aligned 
with pending certification. 
 
d. Blind and Visually Impaired: ​Teach students in grades K-12 who may be blind or have low 
vision full-time 
 
e. Childhood:​ Teach small and large groups in grades 1-6 all subjects full-time  
 
f. Childhood Special Education:​ Teach small groups and individual students with special 
needs in grades 1-6 full-time  
 
g. Dance:​ Teach Dance full-time in a New York City K-12 setting

h. Deaf and Hard of Hearing:​ Teach Deaf and Hard of Hearing full-time in a K-12 Deaf and 
Hard of Hearing setting full-time 
 
i. Early Childhood:​ Be in a classroom aligned with birth to three program requirements 
 
j. Early Childhood Development and Learning:​ Spend at least three (3) full-days or 
equivalent interacting with at least three children who are within the required age range and 
have IFSPs or IEPs. ​Students are responsible for ensuring each of the required age ranges are 
satisfied within their program. 
 
k. Music: ​Teach Music full-time in a New York City K-12 setting 
 
l. Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL): ​Teach full-time in a classroom 
with a minimum of 5 ELLs in one class 
 
m. Visual Arts: ​Teach Visual Arts full-time in a New York City K-12 setting  
 
n. Visual Impairment: ​Teach students in grades K-12 who may be blind or have low vision 
full-time
