OYMYAKON A CITY OF EXTREMES

Oymyakon city has a population of 462. It is the coldest city in the world. It is a Russian city
located in the Republic of Yakutsk. The town is about 750 meters above sea level; the length of
the day varies from 3 hours in December to 21 hours in summer.

THE PROBLEMS THEY FACE

inhabitants eat reindeer
and horse meat; residents
also work as reindeer
herders, hunters and

renos, cazadores y pescadores. La mayoría de las casas todavía queman carbón y leña para
mantenerse calientes, y debido al frío no cuentan con telefonía celular u otras comodidades
modernas. Algunos de los problemas comunes de los habitantes de Oymyakon son la tinta en
los bolígrafos que se congela, las baterías pierden energía y muchos residentes locales dejan
los automóviles trabajando todo el día por miedo a ya no poder encenderlos.

En las heladas severas, se puede escuchar cómo susurra el aire exhalado y se congela
instantáneamente, los lugareños llaman a este sonido "el susurro de las estrellas".

Otro de los problemas que enfrentan los habitantes del pueblo más frío del mundo son los
funerales, ya que puede llevar hasta tres días cavar una tumba en la tierra helada, lo primero

VISITANDO OYMYAKON

No es tan fácil llegar a Oymyakon, en invierno, no hay un servicio de vuelo regular, ya que es
