What is Health?
Health refers to our condition as a well-being. It is the physical, mental, and emotional state of being
free from all illnesses and injury. With the help of our health, we can identify if we are eating the right
food and doing the proper things that we must attain in order for us to maintain good health. With the
definition I have, I strongly believe that health is what we must take good care for us humans to survive.
What is Gender?
Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed. This
includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy, as well as
relationships with each other. As a social construct, gender varies from society to society and can
change over time.
Gender influences people’s experience of and access to healthcare. The way that health services are
organized and provided can either limit or enable a person’s access to healthcare information, support
and services, and the outcome of those encounters. Health services should be affordable, accessible and
acceptable to all, and they should be provided with quality, equity and dignity.
