Segment Objectives

What is our planning horizon?

Cost Savings

Traditionally, companies looking for large amounts of storage would need to physically
build a storage space and maintain it. Storing on a cloud could mean signing a pricey
contract for a large amount of storage space that the company could "grow into".
Building or buying too little storage could be disastrous if the business took off and
expensive if it didn’t.

The same applies to computing power. Companies that experience surge traffic would
traditionally end up buying loads of power to sustain their business during peak times.
On off-peak times—May for tax accountants for example—computing power lays
unused, but still costing the firm money.

With AWS, companies pay for what they use. There’s no upfront cost to build a storage
system and no need to estimate usage. AWS customers use what they need and their
costs are scaled automatically and accordingly.

Scalable and Adaptable

Since AWS’s cost is modified based on the customers’ usage, start-ups and small
businesses can see the obvious benefits of using Amazon for their computing needs.
AWS is great for building a business from the bottom as it provides all the tools
necessary for companies to start up with the cloud. For existing companies, Amazon
provides low-cost migration services so that your existing infrastructure can be
seamlessly moved over to AWS.

As a company grows, AWS provides resources to aid in expansion. As the business

model allows for flexible usage, customers will never need to spend time thinking about
whether or not they need to reexamine their computing usage. Aside from budgetary
reasons, companies could realistically “set and forget” all their computing needs.

Security and Reliability

Amazon Web Services is much more secure than a company hosting its w ite or
storage. AWS currently has dozens of data centers across the globe that are
continuously monitored and strictly maintained. The diversification of the data centers
ensures that a disaster striking one region doesn’t cause permanent data loss
worldwide. Imagine if Netflix were to have all of its personnel files, content, and backed-
up data centralized on-site on the eve of a hurricane. Chaos would ensue.
The data centers and all the data contained therein are safe from intrusions, and, with
Amazon’s experience in cloud services, outages and potential attacks can be quickly
identified and easily remedied, 24 hours a day. The same can’t be said for a small
company whose computing is handled by a single IT specialist working out of a large
office.

Volume, Revenue, Profitability?

Volumes

An Amazon volume is a durable, block-level storage device that you can attach to your
instances. After you attach a volume to an instance, you can use it as you would use a
physical hard drive. volumes are flexible. For current-generation volumes attached to
current-generation instance types, you can dynamically increase size, modify the
provisioned IOPS capacity, and change volume type on live production volumes.

You can use volumes as primary storage for data that requires frequent updates, such
as the system drive for an instance or storage for a database application. You can also
use them for throughput-intensive applications that perform continuous disk scans.
volumes persist independently from the running life of an EC2 instance.

Revenue

Amazon makes money through its retail, subscriptions, and web services, among other
channels.
Retail remains Amazon's primary source of revenue, with online and physical stores
accounting for the biggest share.
AWS is Amazon's largest source of operating profits and is growing fast.

Profitability

AWS is like a buffet, serving developers and end-users with hundreds of services, and it
comes out with new ones each year. From a financial perspective, it’s a bit of a black
box: Amazon doesn’t provide information about where AWS revenue comes from, nor
does it call out the segment’s most profitable parts.

But AWS got its start as an outsourced provider of the most basic types of computing
functions — computing power and data storage — and that’s likely where most of its
money still comes from today.

Segment share

On Amazon, you can use SOV to inform specific actions that you will take to either
continue driving sales or course-correct where there are gaps or opportunities. With a
steady increase of competition on the already saturated platform, you need to
implement a plan that will allow you to keep a continual pulse on new competitors that
join your competitive arena, nix competitors that you thought were legitimate but are
not, and truly understand who may be stealing demand or market share from you.

What competitive position do we aim for?

For starters, Amazon boasts of server farms all over the world. Its data centers are huge
and can host unbelievable amounts of data. For instance, at one point Amazon servers
hosted 500,000,000 gigabytes of data for Dropbox alone.

Secondly, Amazon has flexible pricing models and doesn’t require users to deposit any
security or make any long-term payment. You pay only for services that you use, and at
any given point in time, you can scale up or down your plan.

Last but not the least, Amazon has a suitable hosting solution for all kinds of
businesses, small, mid-sized, and big companies.

The Value Proposition

What positive impact will we make, on which parts of the customer activity cycle?

Amazon Cloud has a positive impact. It helps reduce costs of infrastructure, secures,
backups and is a fast way to connect to millions. It is flexible and user-friendly and all
that one is looking for. It is an adventure back with some useful tips that can help you in
the future. AWS Certification Training is also available around the world, which can
provide you an in-depth knowledge of how AWS works and learn various aspects of its
functions.

Cloud Computing with AWS is thus an appreciable initiative for the ones who are
making their first step in the field of business. This can act as a productive step for
whoever uses it.

What value will we deliver?

By using AWS, customers can harness IT in new ways—not just using smart IT to
save costs, but to offer new services, better understand their customers, enhance
productivity, and go to market faster. In other words, AWS helps businesses
create solutions that have a direct impact on the bottom line. Using AWS
empowers customers to access data, unleash mobility, and keep their data secure
and accessible around the world. By using AWS, customers can free valuable
resources used to manage complex and costly data centers and repurpose them to
focus on other highly strategic areas of the business.
AWS is designed to help customers address a variety of challenging business
problems through reliable and innovative services. Whether you need to launch
an e-commerce website, run supply chain software, or model complex
biotechnology products, AWS can help you gain new business insights, deliver
Amazon Web Services services rapidly, and create new offerings based on demands
customers didn’t know they had.
You don’t need Fortune-100-level funding to drive insights from your CRM data
or a team of developers working around the clock on a new service—with cloud
computing, innovation is fast and cheap. By using AWS, customers can leverage
high-performance compute solutions and store, access, and analyze petabytes of
data.

Relationship Management

Sales and service strategies

An Amazon web services marketing strategy includes studying the demographics of the
customers, as well as how they behave when they use the platform. Sellers become
keen on observing buyers on an individual level and how they gradually transform into
big -- and possibly, corporate -- buyers. However, Amazon focuses on the middle to the
upper class, those who know how to utilize technology but do not have the time and
patience to go to physical stores.

Excellent Customer Service and Acquisitions

One of the reasons Amazon is so successful is due to its focus on customer service and
customer acquisition strategies. When they gain clients that can help them bring in more
customers, they make it a point to listen and be open to feedback. In doing so, they
build rapport with customers and make the necessary changes to improve their
products and services, making it easier to have products that sell themselves.

Having excellent customer service skills can be an advantage, as you show customers
that you not only care about making a sale but also care about their overall experience.
Putting customers first is a surefire way to bring in more clients and more sales.

Using Tools for a Wider Reach

The use of different tools for marketing is not uncommon for various businesses. When
it comes to understanding digital marketing, Amazon is always on top. From sponsored
ads to boosting traffic through SEO, Amazon has utilized tools to help market its
products and services.

Amazon PPC helps sellers boost their product’s visibility. The seller pays the advertiser
each time a potential buyer clicks on the sponsored content, so it’s good to develop the
best strategies to maximize PPC use.

Audience Evangelism

Another strategy used by Amazon Web Services (AWS) is getting influential people in
technology to talk about their products and convince the audience. AWS invests in this
marketing strategy by conducting a series of conferences and meet-ups across different
cities worldwide. Since the selected speakers are influential in their chosen field, it’s
easier for them to talk about the product and educate those who want to learn more
about its features.

This Amazon web services marketing strategy is an effective way to spread positive
views about the product by word of mouth. Products become more popular and trusted
when a credible figure endorses them. So, when people see how an influential person
or company swears by your product, they won’t be hesitant to give it a shot.

Brand Management

What is the brand definition:

AWS (Amazon Web Services) is a comprehensive, evolving cloud computing platform

provided by Amazon that includes a mixture of infrastructure as a service (IaaS),
platform as a service (PaaS), and packaged software as a service (SaaS) offerings.
AWS services can offer an organization tools such as compute power, database
storage, and content delivery services.

AWS offers many different tools and solutions for enterprises and software developers
that can be used in data centers in up to 190 countries. Groups such as government
agencies, education institutions, nonprofits, and private organizations can use AWS
services.

Positive experiences

Easy to use
AWS is designed to allow application providers, ISVs, and vendors to quickly and
securely host your applications – whether an existing application or a new SaaS-based
application. You can use the AWS Management Console or well-documented web
services APIs to access AWS’s application hosting platform.

Flexible
AWS enables you to select the operating system, programming language, web
application platform, database, and other services you need. With AWS, you receive a
virtual environment that lets you load the software and services your application
requires. This eases the migration process for existing applications while preserving
options for building new solutions.

Cost-Effective
You pay only for the compute power, storage, and other resources you use, with no
long-term contracts or up-front commitments. For more information on comparing the
costs of other hosting alternatives with AWS, see the AWS Economics Center.
