1. What are the three (3) things that you significantly learned from the reading?

Please start by
saying,' Before reading the article, I used to think that (insert thought). After reading the
article, I now think that (insert thought) '.
• Before reading the article, I used to think that there was only one significant type of
Intelligence. After reading the article, I now think that emotional Intelligence is
essential and a much-complicated idea. (1) I've always assumed that emotional
Intelligence is just the ability to understand or control emotions properly. However,
this article has provided more depth to emotional Intelligence: different scientific
approaches, branches, and multiple theories. (2) The most interesting part of the
article is definitely "The Mayer and Solovey Model of Emotional Intelligence." They
tackled the different branches that comprise emotional Intelligence. It was really
fascinating, and I realized some things about myself through searching tests online.
Furthermore, my knowledge of emotional perception has grown for sure because
of the clear and easy-to-understand way of introducing the branches. (3) That
knowledge also includes the multiple and very intriguing benefits and effects of
emotional Intelligence. The researchers found or acknowledged these advantages
and disadvantages with the use of a performance test called MSCEIT. The results
and findings were fascinating, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this
research goes in the future.
2. What three (3) things about the reading are unclear to you?
• (1) The two scientific approaches introduced by the article were somewhat unclear
to me. If I understood it, It's supposed to be methods to measure one's emotional
Intelligence? However, the actual processes are, I believe, not provided, or maybe
I missed it. (2) The data on the MSCEIT was unclear to me. I'm just not familiar with
how they got the data, how the calculations work, and stuff. (3) I guess one topic
I'm unclear with as well is the workplace relations on emotional Intelligence—the
topics on leadership, etc. Again, I'm not familiar with this one; I don't know how most
workplace performance and hierarchy work.
3. What three (3) questions that you want to ask about the reading?
• (1) Well, something discussed in the article but not really elaborated on was the
ways to improve or train emotional Intelligence. That's definitely something that I
would like to know and maybe try someday. (2) I would also want to know more
about the article's introduced scientific, emotional intelligence approaches. As I
said, this topic is somewhat unclear to me. I believe that there isn't much information
on this in the reading; info about how the method works, the processes and their
results, and its correlation to other aspects of emotional Intelligence. (3) Lastly, I
would like to ask if I should actually believe the results of the MSCEIT. There seems
to be some debate on if the test objectively assesses emotional Intelligence.
Furthermore, there seems to be some correlation that is just weird for me. I'm just
not sure if I should 100% believe these findings.
