Part A: Arithmetic Sequences

1. A. Watch this video that introduces Arithmetic Sequences. Take notes as needed.
Note: this video uses the notation “𝑎𝑛” and your textbook uses notation “𝑢𝑛”. Both mean the same thing
and are used for notating sequences. The video uses “k” to represent the first term and your book will
use “𝑢1”. You may use either.

B. Describe in your own words, what makes something an arithmetic sequence?

2. Read through Example 2 on page 105 (pasted below)

3. Complete #4-5, 7-8 on page 106-107. Check your answers in the back.

Part B: Geometric Sequences
1. Watch this video that introduces Geometric Sequences.
2. Read page 111 from the RED book (pasted below. Start at the top where it gives you the General Term
Formula.
3. Describe in your own words what makes something a geometric sequence.
4. Complete problems #1-4 on page 111-112. Check your answers in the back of the book.

Complete the exercises found on pages 105-113. Bring in questions to synchronous class. We will be
doing some of these more complex problems in class, but we will not have time to cover all these problems.
