What is the difference between an actual Court and a Permanent Lok Adalats?

Are they any

different?

What do you think is the significance of the Permanent Lok Adalats in India?
Permanent Lok Adalat established under Section 22-B of The Legal Services Authorities Act,
1987. They have been set up as permanent bodies with a Chairman and two members for
providing compulsory pre-litigative mechanism for conciliation and settlement of cases. The
courts in India suffer from suffocation, the number of judges to case ratio is not sufficient to
provide speedy remedies, this resulted in a large number of case pendency in the existing courts.
Also defending or bringing a suit to court is an expensive thing, it includes court fees, lawyer
fees, etc.
Now the permanent lok adalats providing a pre-litigative, it was equipped with the jurisdiction to
decide the case. The award of the Permanent Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties,
this makes it a helpful tool in dealing with issue of backlog or pending cases.

What do you have to say about the functioning of the Permanent Lok Adalats. Do you have any
suggestions for its improvement, if any?
In the event that there is a question as for Public Utility Service, according to Section 22-C(1),
any gathering to such a debate can, before conveying it to an official courtroom for arbitration,
make an application to PLA for the settlement of that question. The gathering making such
application need not be a gathering who raises a case against an open utility administration. On
the off chance that a case is made by one against an open utility administration, the foundation
completing the open utility administration can likewise raise that question before PLA to
determine it. The main constraint is that PLA will not have purview to consider a debate
identifying with an offense not compoundable under any law or any issue where the estimation
of the property in question surpasses Rs 10 lakhs. Be that as it may, the Central Government can,
by a suitable notice, increment this farthest point. When an application has been made to PLA by
one gathering, no gathering to that application will conjure the purview of any court in a similar
question.
This in my opinion is the best function of the PLA, for it brings speedy remedy to an aspect
which is ought to be dealt with as soon as possible which is PUS.

Would you like to visit more such Permanent Lok Adalats, why?
Yes, this visit has provided I with a great deal of practical, first hand, raw knowledge via direct
observation of the functions of the LA that we have visited, we were also briefed on some cases
that were disposed of by the LA which were related to PUS which was done in a quick, swift yet
effective manner. More visits like this would definitely help my fellow students and I gain more
knowledge from direct observation rather than in classroom explanation.
