IUPAC nomenclature of organic compounds

Rules for naming organic compounds:

1) Longest carbon chain is considered as parent hydrocarbon chain.

2) If a compound contain two longest carbon chain of equal length then parent chain is
considered that carbon chain which has large number of branched chain.
3) The numbering of carbon chain is done in such way that branched chain gets the
lowest possible number.
4) If two alkyl substituent are found in equivalent position then lowest no is given to that
substituent, which come first in alphabetical order.
5) The name of alkyl substituent use as prefix before the name of parent hydrocarbon
chain.
6) The name of prefix is arranged in alphabetical order.
7) If two or more identical substituent group are present the numerical prefix is used
before the name of alkyl substituent
