Truss Rod Relief

Essential tools:

 Tuner
 Electric guitar lead
 Metal engineering ruler
 0.4mm / 0.5mm Allen key
 Flat / cross screwdrivers (a range of different sizes)

Non-essential tools:

 Capo
 String winder

Steps:

 Tune strings to desired tuning preference

 Hold G string at last and first frets.

 Check height at fret 12 – generally 0.5mm from bottom of string to top of fret.

NB: Light pickers and jazz musicians can play a very straight neck. When the
instrument allows for it, set to 0.4mm.

Hard strummers, extra light gauge strings and fingerboards with a smaller radius, set
to 0.8mm to 1.2mm.

 Remember starting point – loosen a bit first. Single rod - righty tighty to reduce
gap – check tuning – if not changed, then not turning yet.

 Retune and check height again.

NB: If tightened too much, the string will buzz when playing in middle of neck.
