HOW TO

BECOME A
CYBER SMART

THINK TWICE BEFORE CLICKING ON

LINKS OR OPENING ATTACHMENTS

Even if an email appears to be from someone

you know, you should exercise caution when
opening attachments. Take that extra second
to avoid walking into a potentially dangerous
situation in the digital world. Don't respond to
the email because it's possible that the
sender's identity has been compromised.

VERIFY REQUESTS FOR

PRIVATE INFORMATION
Verify the identity of the requester whenever you are
asked to provide private information (whether it is
yours or someone else's). This is true even if the
requester appears to be someone you know. Con
artists are cunning in their methods of gathering
information in order to steal information and identities.
Even if you believe you are in good standing, you
should check your financial statements and credit
reports on a regular basis. PROTECT YOUR
PASSWORDS

Never share your passwords with anyone else. Make them as long as
possible, as strong as possible, and as unique as possible, and use
multi-factor authentication (MFA) whenever possible.

Use a password manager such as LastPass or RoboForm to keep track

of your passwords. Different passwords should be used for different
accounts. Different passwords should be used for work and home.
Allowing apps and websites to remember your passwords is not
recommended.

PROTECT
YOUR STUFF!

When you're in a public place, keep a close eye on your personal

belongings. Even if you're only going to be gone for a second, make
sure everything is locked away or taken with you before you leave.
When you're at work, make sure to lock your workspace and turn off
your computer before you leave. Please remember to bring your
phone and other portable items with you.
