Safety Goggles
Hair should be pulled back into one to prevent it from being caught in the machinery. Safety
Goggles should always be worn to protect the eyes from any debris or metal chips. Closed toed
or steel toed shoes should be worn to prevent injury to the feet. One should not be barefooted or
wearing slippers. A short-sleeved shirt should be worn and tucked into the pants, a shop apron is
recommended. All jewelry should be removed so that they won’t be caught in the moving
machine parts.
Heavy Objects should always be lifted with your legs and not your back. With your back straight
and knees bent while in a squat position, lift the object using the muscles in your leg to do the
work. Position the load so that it is easily carried. If tt needs to be placed on the floor, lower it in
the same position in which you picked it up.
It should be carried horizontally, by two persons holding each end. If it must be carried
vertically, then one should be aware of light fixtures and the ceiling.
Graduation is the mark used to indicate points on the steel rule, the linear lines that appear on
the steel rule that give the measurement of the material being measured. The are in
increments of 1, ½ , ¼, 1/16, and1/32
The co-incident line on the Vernier Caliper is a graduation that indicates the fraction in tenths
that must be added to the main scale reading.
