Need for Artificial Intelligence

Two years of pandemic has shown us a different side of life. It has accelerated some major shift
that are taking place in almost all areas of our life. Let me not go so far, just five years back;
Digital India, a flagship initiative that was launched with a vision to transform India into a
digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. It proved to be a milestone in the digital
presence of India among the top nations of the world. Some of the major achievement of Indian
government taken in this direction were creating Aadhar database, Swayam portal for Education
purpose, BHIM App to promote digital transaction of all types. All these efforts clearly show
that India is also becoming a digital nation. Here, integrating Artificial Intelligence routines into
the system has played a big role.
The profound minds of Indian Software Engineer have made it possible to use AI in almost every
field through dynamic and interactive apps. Let it be a bank transaction or choosing perfect dress
that fits to our body without going to the shop. Everything is possible through various branched
of Artificial Intelligence.
The rapid growth of AI integration in crop management and mining has taken the production to a
new height. The best part is less wastage and more profit. Be it communication, smart homes,
infrastructure, cyber security, health and even public administration not a single field has
remained untouched with it.
The landscape of education has changed drastically worldwide, especially in 2020. Education
powered via technology as an enabler is becoming more multifaceted, flexible, inclusive, and
affordable.
But the question is; are we ready to adopt these changes? Are we future ready? Do we have
enough of resources to fulfil the learning needs of our young generation? Looking at the facts
Education and Public Research sector, which contributes $126.7 Mn to the Indian AI market,
with a market share of only 2%. The following chart shows the distribution of AI in various
sectors: -

There is an utmost need for promoting Artificial Intelligence in the field of education and make it
a compulsory part of our curriculum. From the last decade young children have been so much
exposed to the IT revolution. Smart phones have completely changed the scenario of learning.
Millions of apps are available for them to use. But are we providing the correct platform to them
so that the learning can happen in the desired manner? The answer is ‘yes’ to a great extent.
There are plenty of platform available for children to learn subjects, improve their logics and
implement ideas through artificial intelligence. CBSE has also introduced many programs for the
children in terms of coding and AI. It has been introduced in board classes also.

But the question is, what is our motive to teach the students about coding and AI? If we target
everyone to learn coding and AI; Is, it going to be so effective and useful? If we want to
implement it so effectively there are some in my opinion there should be scrutiny of ideas,
choices and interests of the students. Based on these aspects the curriculum should be developed
in house and each school should be ready to provide outcome-based statistics.
With all these efforts, it is possible that young innovative minds can soar high in developing
applications that will help in making our lives easier and with using less resources.
