Background
The MSC certification scheme is defined by a range of documents and a progressive evolution of
requirements in response to growth in the program and changes in international best practice. As
a result, it is necessary to clearly control and manage a list of those documents comprising the
scheme, to understand the evolution of the scheme and to understand the standing and status of
scheme documents. Triggered in an effort to improve the transparency of the MSC scheme and
to ensure a comprehensive definition of the MSC scheme, this list will be maintained into the
future as the authoritative definition of what comprises the MSC scheme.
Format
This controlled document list is set out in 2 tables listing documents that comprise the MSC
certification scheme documents. Table 1 outlines the current and Table 2 the superseded
scheme documents. As there is a transition period from the release of the requirements until they
become effective, previous and later versions may appear in Table 1 (current scheme
documents). Once later versions become effective, they will replace previous versions; and these
will be moved to Table 2 (superseded documents).
