4. Res"toration

After compleTion of all ~es~s, reset all apparatus


LO the normal condition.

MAINTENANCE

The system as installed requires no more


than ordinary care to insure its proper operation
at all times.
Frequent inspectio~ ShOllld ~e made, as experjence
bas shown that emergency equipment- of this kind is
often unintentionally neglected or tampered with.

Once every Month

Mak~ a ge~eral ~nspection of the entire system to


make certain that nothing has occ~rred to_inter~are
with the operation of the equipment or with access
to the release con~rols.
Inspect all pipings and equipmen~s for mechanical
breakage.
:
•. Ex~mine all nozzles and pipings for obstructions
from paint, oil grease etc., which may have drained
into the system due to slop, fumes or overflow
from hazard protested. When rupture discs are used,
make sure that they are intact and clean.
Look for holes or cuts.

The extinguishment of the fire may well depend on


freedom rromsuch obstruction or defects.

Once eVery vear

C02 cylinders should be r-e rn o ve d and weighed to


determine the carbon dioxide content (Do not.
attempt to determine content by using a pressure
gage) .

If .th e net weight bas decreased FrOm tbe proper


gas charge by more than 10%. the cylinder must be
recbarged .to its Full Rated Capacity.
Record the net weight of' contents in each cylinder
on record sheets.

Once every two years

Blowout all distributing piping witll air ur C02 to


make sure that it is not clogged.

Before blwoing out system, remove the dirt trap
caps from the end of the distributing piping to
allow any foreign, matter to blow clear.
Remove any frangible discs if hooded nozzles have
been installed.
