LEISURE ACTIVITIES

Leisure has often been defined as a quality of experience or as free time. Free time is time spent
away from business, work, job hunting, domestic chores, and education, as well as necessary
activities such as eating and sleeping.

The range of leisure activities extends from the very informal and casual to highly organised and
long-lasting activities. A significant subset of leisure activities are hobbies which are undertaken
for personal satisfaction, usually on a regular basis, and often result in satisfaction through skill
development or recognised achievement, sometimes in the form of a product. The list of
hobbies is ever changing as society changes.

In some cases, people choose to do leisure activities that others may view as work. For example,
many people may enjoy cooking, cleaning and shopping where others view this as a chore.
