The Analysis Module Scoring is based on the following:

• The total score of a welding execution is the average of all the passes score. PASS or
FAIL will depend on the score established by the Teacher.
• The score of a welding pass is the average of all the parameters score.
• The score of each parameter is evaluated based on the Target Value established by the
teacher.

12
TEACHER SOFTWARE 2.5.01

Difficulty levels: there are 3 difficulty levels

• Beginner
• Intermediate
• Advanced

Every single level is more restrictive than each other as the tolerance range varies in all
parameters. For example:

Parameter Beginner Intermediate Advanced

Gas ± 10 ±7 ±5
Travel Angle ± 15 ± 10 ±5
Arc Length ± 0,20 ± 0,15 ± 0,10

All three levels include on-screen guides that can be deleted or customized throughout the
Teacher Software.

D. Adding a Student
Click Add Student to display the student data screen. Name, Last Name and Password are
mandatory fields while the rest are optional. Click Submit to save changes.

Only digits 1-4 can be used for Password.

• Advanced
• Open: the student selects the difficulty level on the simulator.

Designate the number of times the welding exercise can be attempted on the simulator in the
option # of attempts allowed.

This screen also gives you the option of adding a WPS pdf. file to familiarize students with this
type of documentation. The WPS will be viewed in the simulator before starting the welding
exercise.

TEACHER SOFTWARE 2.5.01

Figure 1-25. Designing a welding exercise.

Click Next and proceed to the next screen.

This screen (Figure 26) allows you to select the parameters you want Soldamatic to evaluate for
the exercise, and the real-time guide parameters you want the system to display during the
exercise.

• Check the option Enable/Disable All to select or deselect all the parameters.

Click Next.

18
TEACHER SOFTWARE 2.5.01

Exercise parameters include the following:

Procedure

• Welding Process: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW (gas and self-shielded) and GTAW
• Tungsten electrode (only for GTAW)
• Activate electrode stick consumption: if selected, the electrode will be consumed
(consumption rate is dependent on the welding parameter and student performance).
• Joint Type
• Base material
• Position
• Thickness
• Weld Type

Click Next and continue adding the following parameters:

• Filler classification
• Type
• Diameter
• Gas composition

View all the welding procedure values in the last window. Click Edit to customize the procedure
values.

An image of the joint you are going to weld, and the passes chosen (Figure 27) will appear on
the right corner of the screen. Assign the desired values to the different parameters. The range
of tolerance will be higher or lower depending on the level of difficulty chosen.

Once you finish, click Submit to save changes.

5. VIRTUAL CLASSROOM
In this menu, you can monitor what is happening in the SOLDAMATIC classroom in real time.
Virtual Classroom will show FAIL/PASS score.

First, select the course you want to monitor. Once selected, a list of the students of that course
will be displayed in the left side of the screen. You can choose all the students to be displayed
or just the connected ones. If the check is active, both connected and disconnected students will
be shown.

The name of the student will appear with an icon besides, indicating the status of the student at
that moment:

Disconnected

Connected

Connected and performing an exercise

Connected and doing a quiz

Connected and seeing theory

Connected and analyzing an exercise

The order in the students’ list will be: students with marks, students with higher marks, students
that are doing a task (from the lowest mark to the highest one), analysis students, tests, theory,
connected and disconnected students.

The Activity Log displays each student’s use of the simulator, so the teacher can track their
progress in real time.

The teacher can retrieve real time information for connected students doing an exercise. The
student’s name will be displayed with the simulation icon and their average score in real time.
Click the student’s name to view detailed information about their exercise on the right side of
the screen, including work angle, travel angle, travel speed, CTWD (contact tip to work distance),
aim, arc length, rod work angle, and rod filler angle. By default, all parameters are selected.

20
TEACHER SOFTWARE 2.5.01

To focus on specific parameters (for example, areas in which the student needs improvement),
deactivate the rest by clearing the check marks. Deactivated parameters are not scored. The
real-time average is calculated only with the selected parameters.

6. REPORTS
The Teacher Software Program can generate reports of all the information stored in it (student
progress, student list, etc.). Almost all the Teacher Software screens include a Generate Report
or Create PDF button.
