This is an Introductory video about the fictional setting known as "Humans are

Space Orcs". Other labels used for it include "Humans are space elves", "Humans are
strange", "Humanity Fuss Yeah!" and "Earth is space Australia". This setting did
not originate from some novel, film or other item of mainstream entertainment
media. According to one claim, it started from a discussion on social media While
others state that similar stories had started circulating in the ninteen eightees
on the early version of internet. Some of the content can even be found in the form
of anonymous 4chan posts. Today this setting is maintained by community. And nearly
the entire content is in English language.
Most of the stories tend to feature science fiction, futuristic and space related
themes. The shared intent of these stories is to make humans look impressive
compared to other alien races. Stories about wars and battles tend to make up a
significant portion of this setting. Another notable theme is healthcare with a
focus on surgical practices. Stories about the quirks of human body such as periods
or pregnancy also exist but aren't as frequent.
In nearly all the stories, the perspective of alien individuals or cultures about
the humanity is a crucial component. Aliens are often portrayed as being impressed
& horrified by the human accomplishments. tone is usually kept humorous or comedic.
However, stories invoking sadness, fear or pride are also common.
As stated earlier, this setting gained popularity from social media. To be more
specific, it was discussion on tumbler. One participant expressed annoyance about
how the science fiction generally portrays aliens as impressive while humans are
depicted as boring. Another participant listed different attributes of human body
that allowed us to become the dominant species of our home planet. Another
participant pointed out that humans have been known to temporarily surpass the
physical limitations of our body in time of distress. This conversation inspired
some people to write some short stories depicting the perspective of aliens at the
discovery of such traits. And that is how this setting started.
It is a community run setting where no official authority exists. Anyone can add a
short story or a series of stories. It might get approval and appreciation from the
members or it might get ignored. There is no official way to determine any canon.
The circumstances of the first contact between humans and aliens can change from
story to story. Therefore, these stories cannot be said to exist in the same
fictional universe. The only thing that matters is whether your story is well
written and whether people will like it.
