Symptom Possible Cause or Remedy

System cannot locate satellite • Check power to modem


• Ensure that all cables are
connected
• Turn system off and recycle
modem power
• Ensure that cables are connected
to dish and mounting apparatus
• Navigate the antenna slowly
• Check condition of cables and
connectors
• Check motor, GPS system
• Check for damage to system due
to weather or lighting

Reception has ghosts and smears • Check whether cables or


connectors are bad
• Reposition the antenna, possible
multipath reception disturbance
• Check impedance for mismatch
• Substitute different television for
possible bad television
• Check whether wrong directional
antenna
• Check the amplifiers and splitters
for defects or poor connections
• Check the television for wrong
settings

Poor picture quality or noise and • Rotate the antenna to another


interference direction
• Change the height of the antenna
• Check the television for wrong
settings
• Check or replace all components
of the antenna systems such as the
antenna, connectors, preamplifier,
amplifier, cable, splitters, filters,
couplers, etc.

them and test system
• Check for damage to antenna and
system due to weather or lightning
