Control Valve Basics

In this module course,Control Valve Basics in Alison discussed about the

construction and how to control valves. A Control valve is a power operated device
which modifies the fluid flow rate in a process control system; consists of a valve
connected to an actuator mechanism that is capable of changing the position of a
flow controlling element in the valve in response to a signal from the controlling
system.
The Control Valve Basics module discussed the construction of a valve. Its
parts , their definition, and how a valve works. These valves are designed to handle
a range of pressures up to a certain limit called the valve’ s pressure rating .There
are many types of valves available, each having their advantages and limitations. But
each of valves has the ability to throttle or control the rate of flow which is the basic
functions of every valves. The types of valve present in the course are stated below:

● Ball valves are quick opening valves that give a tight shutoff.
● Butterfly valves consist of a disc attached to a shaft with bearings
used to facilitate rotation.
● Globe valves consist of a movable disk-type element and a stationary
ring seat in a generally spherical body.
● Gate valves which uses linear type of stem motion for opening and
closing of a valve.
There are also called Pneumatic valves and other special types of valves discussed
in the course.
Learning this course is important especially if you are targeting to be a worker
in Plants. One must know every basics of it. Also how to maintain the quality of the
valve.
