Introduction
Global excellence and local relevance in research, teaching, and technology development is
the vision of the department. The Department was started as the Post Graduate Diploma in
Computer Application in 1986. In 1991 Master of Computer Application (MCA) was
started. The Department was initially allocated space in the same premises as that of the
Department of Mathematics. Which was among the first such programs in India, It is
comprehensive program of study intended to give students a thorough foundation in the
theory and methodology of the techniques in computer Science. The obtain skills and
experience in up-to-date approaches to analysis design, implementation, validation and
documentation of computer software and hardware
The Department also started M.Sc Computer Science course in the year 2000 with the
aim to develop competence in computer science and to prepare the students to take up
challenges of research and development. The students have the ability to apply high level of
theoretical expertise and innovation to complex problem and application of new
technologies. The Department also offers M.Phil& Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programs
aimed at producing quality research in several diverse branches of computer Science.
The Department has introduced semester system in the year 2002 and choice Based
Credit System (CBCS) in the academic year 2008-2009.
The Department alumni are at the forefront of research and development in computer
science and related fields within India and internationally. The Departments alumni include
renowned academician, leaders in computer and IT industry, distinguished scientists and
trendsetting entrepreneurs.
