Job Role Summary

The Pipeline engineer will report to the Technical Support and Engineering Superintendent. 
The work location is Douala with regular trips to COTCO sites (Dompta, Belabo, Kribi and
offshore) depending on operations requirements.  He or she will be responsible for supporting
ETS onshore and offshore Pipeline Facilities, including Floating Storage and offloading (FSO).
 
Job Role Responsibilities

Key assignments include:


• responsibility for overseeing implementation of pipeline integrity activities within COTCO with
support from external Subject Matter Expert as required;
• development, monitoring of Key Performance Indicators, and implementation of mitigation /
management programs as required;
• provision of day to day support for Project, Maintenance, and Operations teams for evaluation
of different materials and impacts of certain processes / chemicals on those materials as part of
changes / optimizations;
• Supporting the development and implementation of maintenance activities or project
implementation.  This will include planning and development of pipeline inspection activities,
maintenance activities, etc.
 

Expected Level of Proficiency

Educational
The Candidate must have a Master Degree or Equivalent Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. 
Experience / knowledge on Corrosion & Material, Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Fluid
hydraulics.
Professional experience and knowledge required
Zero to five years of related experience in crude oil pipeline transportation or industrial setting.
• Pipeline Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection Management
• Experience with Pipeline Codes & Regulations
• Integrity / Corrosion Program Development & Implementation
• Pipeline / Flow line Fitness For Services Evaluations
• Pipeline Chemical Program Implementation & Support
• Contractor Interface & Management (Inspection, Engineering Studies, etc.)
• Understanding of risk assessment methodology
• Experience with Inspections/testing, maintenance of pipeline(s)
• Experience with Pipeline design/installation/fabrication
• Familiar with API welding standards for welding procedures and welder qualification

• Able to facilitate progression of a team through complex analysis or reviews leveraging effective
interpersonal and communication skills
• Leadership skills in being able to influence individuals in a functional team without direct
authority
• Able to expand pipeline inspection and integrity skills to Plant Facilities
• An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Fluency in oral and written English (ability to prepare written reports in English is essential)
• Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range
required to engineer, operate and maintain offshore terminal and Pumping Stations facilities
• Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and
with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines
• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
• Competent in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.
