Song Analysis. TATSULOK by Buklod/Bamboo
(To be accomplished by those who opted modular only and those who haven’t attended the online class)
What did you feel during the singing of the song “Tatsulok”? What do you think is/are
the message/s of the song to you, to the class, to the school, to government agencies, to
communities? What do you think was the context of the song and what could be its
message to the citizens of today?
I feel sad and upset that the song has interpreted to me how barbaric our World is. This
made me understand how cruel politics was to the people, particularly the innocent. For me,
for the class, for the classroom, for government institutions, for families, the message of the
song is that we need to be conscious of what's going on in the real world and not be fooled
by the government, we need to know how to discern what's wrong and fair and still be on
the right side, to create a stronger and progressive community / world. Tatsulok was a young
man's song, written by the band Buklod. This determines the social hierarchy of our society
in which few belong to the highest. It's actually a revolutionary song toward the country's
triangular social system. The main political and social institutions of the nation are
dominated by those who can afford power. Land, though our farmers are landless, is owned
by the few. If we were to open our eyes, one would know that our country's true enemies are
not from other nations that are much more advanced than ours, but from ourselves. This
song will make us understand that we have the strength to turn the triangle around and give
us the equal justice we deserve.
