Accepting Social Change

1. In learning the difference between social change and deviance, several aspects

showcased themselves. Some were considered deviant in previous years, but they all seem to

be normal as of today. This article will illustrate several considered strange things today, but

they won't be there in the future. Things such as unmarried individuals are known to be

deviant today, but why should married individuals divorce? Fombelle et al. (2020) urge that

no one is aware that their parents will have a divorce and decide to live a separate life. Being

a vegetarian has also been considered a common thing among individuals to the extent that it

sometimes acts to be civil disobedience in some societies.

Social change and deviance have neutralized these aspects, and one can't think that

acts of civil disobedience will still affect the future generation. Recently, several activities

are only made to be conducted by men and exclude women, eventually bringing gender. But

through learning social change, this won't be enacted as developments are put in place to

ensure that all gender is being considered.

2. Some individuals are afraid to accept a social change in several ways. First,

positive or negative results from any social change will lead to panicking the individuals

involved. Second, they are afraid of how society will react to their actions; thus, this becomes

a major challenge for individuals ready to have a societal impact. For example, when Switzer

was running in the male marathon, she established a new change for women (Bolden et al.,

2020). She sometimes experienced some good feedback from individuals, and at the same

time, she got negative feedback when she was running. They're also a lack of education in

society. The majority of the people are not used to something unique where an individual and

the larger group can sometimes be involved.

Information is very important when planning for asocial change, and this is mainly

facilitated by the level of education possessed by each individual. By knowing, one would

have known Switzer was a woman and not an agent thus, they should have supported her as

her husband did and her trainer. Schneider & K (2020) urge that gender has also been a major

determinant in social change. Individuals believe in doing activities involving men and

women, which has led to the majority of them having inequality. However, not everyone and

eventually results in some people being attacked. A question would later come as to why an

individual would fear a social change?
